Hi all, as I mentioned on Warseer, I'm hoping to take on the Space Wolves "portfolio" and pair them up with my World Eaters list in a "supplement" style package - I'm thinking about calling it "Epic:Fury" and setting the confrontation during the time of the 13th Black Crusade. Anyway, what I was interested in hearing from folks out there is what they do - and more importantly don't - want to see in the list. To begin with I would prefer not to see largely fan designs in the list e.g things like the Land Raider Mjolnir won't be in there when there are perfectly good titans available out there. So if you're keen to play Space Wolves, I'm keen to hear what your view is. Cheers all! |

Hmm, I haven't got the 2 Space Wolves lists here and cannot find them anywhere. Do you have a link, Black Legion (The link on epic-battles.de doesn't work anymore, I'm afraid.)? Dobbsy, great that you are going after it! I would love to have a working Space Wolves list and definitvely would playtest it. To be honest, I found the 2 Space Wolves lists for E:A too detailed so far. I am not a big fan of creating loads of new units with even more special rules for them (or special characters...). An ideal army list for me would use the available specialist rules, trying to get the feel of an army right with little changes to the overall rules. So, what do we want a space wolves army to be like? It should be an agressive, close combat orientated army, imo. for example, I like the idea of giving all SW (or maybe only Blood Blaws, bikes and LS) a bonus in engage actions they have initiated. (Something like the bonus a chaplain gives). Or tHey could get the infiltrator ability, doubling their charge movement. Or we could make a formation 50 points chaper when the commander chooses to deploy them in drop pods. I wouldn't change formation sizes, since this leads to funny results (because of atsknf) Well, these are just some thoughts. Looking forward to see what you will come up with! ![]() |

Did you mean Wulfenkind, Hena...? Are people adverse to Fenrisian Wolves as a formation type? Kinda like Flesh hounds is my immediate thought - stat-wise anyway. I've been looking at 10mm Fantasy wolves (from Battle of the Five armies or Eureka Miniatures) as minis for them. BoFA wolves look good actually even Warmaster wolves from the Gobbo range. |

Oh I see you mean the new Thunder wolves from the new codex. Gotcha. Yes that's not what I had in mind as I see it that that design isn't represented at Epic level as it's more singel riders riding these things. No my thought was a pack of wolves alone - no riders. |

Fenrisian Wolves are not actually Wolves, so saying they can't carry things on their backs because they're Wolves doesn't hold weight (heh, a pun). Also, as I've said before, critiqueing Thunderwolves because you think they're silly doesn't make sense to me, in a game that has Hobbits with sniper rifles, Ogres (sorry "Ogryns"), comedy space cockneys on a pub crawl (Orks), Space Elves, magic, Daemons, and all sorts of other silliness. |

There's "silly within the accepted tolerances of the universe" and "silly outside the accepted tolerances of the universe". Thunder Wolves are definitely working their way toward the second one, IMO. |

Xenos mounts or genetically engineered Horses for IG Rough Rider Cavalry are fine, but genetically engineered mounts for Space Marines is somehow worse? |

They're not Wolves. I've no finished the latest Horus Heresy book yet, but it's being heavily telegraphed that they're entirely unrelated to Wolves, and are instead a genetically engineered creature from a completely different (and apparently horrifying...) source. Anyways, they're not wolves, they're not related to wolves. They're some sort of gene-spliced creature that looks like a car-sized wolf. |

Thousand sons seems to imply that the Wolves are mutated space wolves - or at least that was my reading of it |
