I'm curious what the problem with White Scars Bikes seems to be. I've seen three "Bike + THawk" games now, the last by Chroma on behalf of Dobbsy and an as yet named party. I would have thought these would have been the best conditions for a White Scars army. But they're not taken. The slight points increase (6.875/bike) seems worth it for what it adds (extra resiliency, and the ability to not have to worry as much about DTT), and there's no wasted space in the THawk (the reason I've not taken regular bikes). For that matter, why take Bikes in a THawk anyway? Aren't Assault Marines a better purchase in that role? You can double them up if need be, getting the double inspiring, not having to worry about cluttered DZ's (Jump Packs). But I digress... What am I missing? Morgan Vening |

"Dave", the now-named-other-party, with the tan-coloured Marines, in the above mentioned battle takes Bikes over Assault Marines or White Scars Bikes for a few reasons: vs Assault Marines: Bikes are faster, have better FF, and, for a single charactered formation, a 25 point difference gets you five units instead of four. vs White Scars: For 25 points more, you get two more total units, and two formations instead of one.  And, you don't have to "waste" points on mechanized Terminators if you want to teleport them. The "wasted" Thunderhawk slots have never been seen as a problem in the "ThunderBike" army, so I don't think he even considers it. |
