In the recent Space marine Codex Terminators are allowed to be deployed via Droppod instead of teleporting. They take double the transport space, so only 5 terminators fit into a Droppod.

So how about allowing this in Epic?
terminators exchange their Teleport specialability and can be deployed vie Droppod.

I think this would be an even exange.
They gain the Deathwing attack and don't risk receiving Blastmarkers on arrival and don't have to show up at the beginning of the turn but their arrival is somewhat less precise because they scatter.

In the Salamanders armylist The_Real_Chris and i already have implemented this.

What do you think?

What was the initial reason to not allow Terminators to use Drop Pods?

I guess because they have no Rhinos to exchange against Droppods. Same as with Assault Marines.

Most likely it was because Terminators couldn't ride drop pods in 40k at that point.

I'm not so sure.
Even in the 3rd Edition Codex Terminators are able to use Droppods.

Not sure that this as big a sacrifice as you suggest - statistically, you will expect to deviate 7 cms away from your declared DZ point, while you can disembark 5cms back, so in practice you will be pretty close to where you wanted to be anyway.

Having said that, I cannot see why any marines (or other races for that matter) should be prevented from using Drop Pods. The main thing you give up is the additional transport, sacrificing both formation size and mobility. Marines have the TSKNF advantage which offsets their small numbers, but other races would need to use the pods much less agressively.

Don't forget that the drop pods have to be pre-plotted so you are giving up the advantage of going after a decent target and you could end up nowhere near a target at all.

Seems like a way to avoid BMs and give them a Deathwind attack on top of it.

A bit much, no?

Currently there is nothing wrong with teleporting Termies so I don't see the need to change this

Not sure I see the point when teleporting is so good...

I say - yes. But seems a waste of assets. I'd always teleport Terminators, let Assault SMs use their Jump Packs. And I'd put Tac or Dev SMs or even Dreads in the Pods. That makes them much more mobile. Terminators and Assault SMs already have good mobility ...

Nothing is wrong with teleporting Terminators. I thought i add some more flavour to the game and allow Terminators the use of Droppods in Epic.
