Why not drop the Multi-melta (it's only an option in the latest 40K codex) and give the Crusader FF4+?

Land Raider Crusader
AV - 25 cm
Arm. 4+
CC5+
FF4+

Frag Launchers (contact)/(Assault Weapons)
2 x Hurricane Bolters (15cm)/(Small Arms), EA (+1)
Twin Assault Cannon 30 cm/AP4+/AT4+

This, together with its augmented Transport capacity, would give it a very distinctive role (solid troop carrier providing monster FF support).

If 3xFF4+ attacks are deemed too strong, then either leave the Crusader at FF5+ or make the Hurricane Bolters give only 1 Extra Attack in total. But I kind of like this profile with 3xFF4+ attacks, at 100 points per LR Crusader I think it would be OK.

Leaving the Multi-melta off would be a good idea. Tjuis pintle-mounted thing did only give headaches :D

To even more simplify the profile how about this?:

Land Raider Crusader
AV - 25 cm
Arm. 4+
CC5+
FF4+

Hurricane Bolter System (15cm)/(Small Arms), EA (+2)
Twin Assault Cannon 30 cm/AP4+/AT4+

I've been using the Crusader for a while now and in some situations it is a bit powerful in it's current form, i've found that as a transport is very good, so yes i'd be fine with losing the Multi-Melta from the stats but i don't think FF 4+ is needed 3 FF 5+ attacks is good enough.

there is one problem for me with this change i've got 4 made and half painted Crusaders with a pintle Multi-meltas that i took along time making :)) oh well !!

Currently the crusader is definately the superior choice to the normal LR because of the enhanced transport capacity. Reducing it to 3xFF5+ with no macro seems a sensible nerf.

i've found the transport capacity is the good thing like Zombo says, using 2 LD crusaders as transport upgrades for large Crusader formations (i.e. 8-12 units)with a few Razorbacks is a good way for BT to ground pound or with Sword Brethern using THT's to get on to the enemys half of the table, so taking off the MW is a good idea, it'll lower the damage these formations can do.

But without the MW i don't think the formation of just LR Crusaders will be as good as it is now, this could be a good thing i'm not sure.

so my question is: without the MW is the LR Crusader still worth 100 points?

As an upgrade? Definately. As its own formation? Probably not.

Good to see LR Crusaders still being dicussed and developed. A question for Pulsar, what ever happened to the sponsons you where working on to make the LR Crusaders?

Looks good to me, although leaving it at FF5+ may be a better solution. 3xFF4+ attacks are probably too good.

The 12 bolters of the Hurricane sponsons represents about the same firepower than 2 Tactical stands. So 2 FF4+ for Hurricane bolters and 1 FF4+ for assault cannons seem not too much.

yes in fluff terms 3 FF 4+ would make sence but not for 100 points and with the armour that the LR has with that FF you'd have to up the cost
