Just a tentative question (so don't all shout please)

Has anyone tried making an IG list where a marine contingent is included as part of the 1/3 aircraft restriction?
- Is it workable,
- would it be balanced?
- what other Racial "Allies" exist?

Black Legion and Lost and the Damned would be obvious ones (could possibly add or replace one of the two with Demon World)

If you built the list from the ground up with it in mind, then that'd be fine...



For example, if taking Space Marines (with all their attendant Special Rules) in a Steel Legion army list, you might want to change their points values, either because they have overly good synergies with the Steel Legion, or because without their Strategy Rating they're not worth as much...


...so either up or down, depending on playtesting!


The armies of Vraks are supposed to field Alpha Legion squads alongside their infantry (they're part of the same army list in Warhammer 40,000) so I'm experimenting with allowing them in the 'Allies' section in that list.

They don't bring a whole gamut of Special Rules with them however, unlike if you took Loyalist Marines alongside the Steel Legion.

I've put together an "Imperial Crusade" list that allows for a "combined forces" Imperial Guard, Space Marine, Titan Legion, and Imperial Navy army.

It needs playtesting and points tweaking, but it's been fun to play with and against in the few games I've seen it in.

And, yes, you knew it was coming: "EPIC: Total War" will have rules for "allies", mainly for campaign play, but adaptable for one-offs.

Epic: Hive Development Thread

Me Steve and Bill used to allow this (allies) in some of our big Monday night/Bank holiday games.

In a friendly game it doesn't cause problems (because there friendly games   )but would need a lot of testing for a allowing as a GT list.

I believe limited formation availability a would be best . Maybe only tacticals and transport options for them ,T/hawks only if tactical formation taken (no eternal terminator air assault etc.   ).

I made a guard list with Grey Knight allies, but they're very limited.
