Hi all,
this is a very rare foray into rulesland for me - still, just for once, I felt I should have some fun and prepare an army list.
Here is the Legio Fausta (translation - Lucky Legion) army list. It is NOT intended for tourneys, and is probably unbalanced (as in underpowered) and not the easiest to use. It also includes some old school units, but removes many SM options available in most lists. It also tends towards the use of lare, lunky formations.
Anyway, it's incomplete, designed for fun, so - lambast away!

Yeah, I miss those things. I still have to add the costs of these and other stuff of course.
And please note it's a fun old-school-feel list, not a serious affair.

I felt I should have left the Hunter out to get a better antique feel, actually, but I really think they just cannot do without AA. The obvious solution is to come up with an alternative vehicle and use it as a Hunter proxy, with the same rules. Perhaps a Rhino with a missile launcher (which is what the Hunter effectively is!), or with a skyward-pointing assault cannon. Not my notorious Vindicator AA, though... only the Blood Axes would do that.

The Deathwind Drop Pod needs rules. Now I know the current Drop Pod has 'Deathwind', but I prefer the older version with differentiated Drop Pods, hence the sole call for new rules which I otherwise tried to avoid.

I was tempted to add Rapiers and Tarantulae and Mole Mortars, but I wanted to keep the available choices down, and the Thudd Gun battery appeals to the massed forces look more than the other more modern-looking weapons. I was also tempted by Robots, but felt this would be going too far down memory lane.

By the way - the Legio Fausta are a legion which had in the past - under a different and closely guarded name - been systematically dismantled by Orks, Chaos and the Eldar. The remnants of the chapter were at the point of being assigned as support to the Inquisition, the chapter itself being dissolved. An Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus and his escorts arrived on the one remaining cruiser of the chapter to effect the dissolution. A handful of veterans refused to hand over the chapter banners, a firefight broke out, and a small battle on the cruiser saw the Inquisitor and his escorts overwhelmed.
Dreading the worst, the Marines debated whether to hand themselves over to Imperial Justice or live out their days in exile on their cruiser. Librarian Rotamagus, the most senior surviving marine, proposed appealing to Marneus Calgar; his view carried the day, but on the way to Ultramar they intercepted an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator ship attempting to rescue a high ranking Magos off a planet infested by Tyranids. The marines deployed most of their remaining forces on the planet and succeeded in holding off the monstrous creatures long enough to permit the escape. The battered marine cruiser and the Explorator   proceeded to Ultramar in Company. Hailed by an Ultramarine cruiser, Rotamagus transmitted his plea to Calgar. Meanwhile, the Explorator was busy sending envoys to an Adeptus Mechanicus station in the system. The arrival of a Black Ship boded ill for the marines - but luck, or the Emperor, was with them. The Inquisitor dispatched by the marines had in fact been guilty of communion with Chaos cults, and had eluded a force of Grey Knights when he encountered the marines; the Adeptus Mechanicus were indebted to them for the rescue, and Ultramar approved of their bravery and recognised the value of the rescue not only of the Magos but also of the valuable data on Tyranids. Their luck had definitely turned.
Newly reformed and renamed, the Legio Fausta (lucky legion) still wears no emblems, having decided to cut off all links to their less fortunate past. For recognition purposes the marines wear yellow shoulder pads and the chapter carries all-yellow banners. Their vehicles and vessels are marked by distinct yellow  markings. The armour is usually Adeptus battle-grey, but several variants, including black, metal, blue and red, have been seen on individual troops. The Legio Fausta has been known to welcome to its ranks 'lost marines' from decimated chapters, and has on occasion also worked closely with the Ultramarines and the Angels of Fire. The Red Giants chapter, almost totally destroyed by the Dark Eldar, is known to have been incorporated in the Legio Fausta, but it is unknown whether their gene-seed is still being transmitted.

Having survived for so long on small numbers, the Legio Fausta deploy their troops in large numbers, and go to war supported by Vindicator formations. They eschew Devastator and Assault formations, and tend to favour strong advances with massed ranks. Their scouts are very rarely seen, and it is believed that the scouts form up entire new formations led by veterans to war and eventually graduating as new companies (cue upcoming scout army?!?). From their meagre beginnings, the chapter is now believed to rival that of the Black Templars in size.

EDIT - yay, post no. 8000  :vD
By the way, the history is loosely based on a series of battles in a 40K local national tourney (Chaos, Inquisition, Nids) in which I was surprised to take 6th place instead of my usual 21st - 23rd out of 24.
