I've had this done for a while and was going to put it up for the Space Marine dev month but as that isn't happening for some months I throught I'd see what people think and have more time to play with the look of the list.

Black Templars V3.2
So what do you think?

I'd like to get some ideas on the fluff in the list and how good it is?

Edit: file fixed, should now work but new link so tell me if it isn't

Looks good but where are the stats for Initiates?

Initiates are the same as normal space marines, it says that on page 2:

Any unit types not mentioned above use the standard Codex Astartes Army list rules and the same rules of construction as the Codex Space marine list in section 6.3 of the Epic: Armageddon rulebook, including the special rule 6.3.1 Space Marine Transports.

The Initiates thing is very unclear, especially since they aren't named that in the Codex Marines list.

Why not just have:

Crusaders:    6 Tactical Marine units plus transport

Ditto Sword Brethren Terminators. Are they meant to be a new unit type or standard Terminators? This is very unclear.

Also, the Emperor's Champion entry says "at least one formation" must take it, but it's 0-1. How could more than one take it?

good call, done

and on the Emperor's champion he's 0-1 because you can only have one of him and one formation must take one.

so how else could i do it?

Yes, one formation must take one, not at least one formation.

At least suggests more than one can take it.

It should simply say "One formation in the army must take this upgrade." or similar.

If one formation must have the EC then it shouldn't be 0-1 it should be 1 :)

Hmm, just a vague thought...

How about sniper instead of first strike on the Emperor's Champion's extra attack, since then it could be used to place hits directly on characters etc.

To me that seems more like challenging to a duel than first strike.

There is huge amount of upgrades in that list. Is the Land Speeder upgrade really needed? Only bikes can take it and there is already Neophyte Bikes there.

yes i've been thinking that there are alot of upgrades, and having land speeders in a bike formation sounds abit to dark angle for the black templars to handle, so they are gone.

You've copied the typo that I had in Thunderhawk SB and CAS stats. The Heavy Bolters are only AA5+, not AA4+ :).

ok thats better in the games i've used them in the main unbalancing thing i found was the amount and quality of the defencive AA they could put out, i found that one of the best ways to use them was any time some used bombers i would park one of my Thunderhawk SB ofCAS ?behind the formation and in the end phase they would take alot of AA fire but the stat change (which i was going to ask you about anyway) is a good change, thanks

"0-1 Emperor's Champion / Add one Emperor's Champion to one Formation. At least one formation in the army must take an Emperor's Champion / 50 points"
How about
1 Emperor's Champion / Add one Emperor's Champion. One formation in the army must take Emperor's Champion / 50 points"

looks good.

What bothers me is that that's essentially a Chaplain. Only with first strike on the MW attack, while costing the same.

The EC is a hard call, i like him being inspiring, it works form a fluff point of view but your right, it would good if he was a bit different from the Chaplain.

Zombocoms idea could work, because of MW hits being able to go further that base contact but is a MW sniper better than MW first strike?

One small "nit". Put the upgrades allowed in detachments into alphabetic order (and remove the last comma from many of them).

Done and done, thanks :D

For the Initiate thing. Look at the Feral Ork list. It has similar "name change" which is solved in one way (swordwind p.37, section 1.3.2).

cool if thats the way they did it it's good enough for me!

thanks for the coments, any ideas on the fluff?
