So the idea came up to use the Dropod rules for the Thunderhawk Transporter (THT).
To use the THT in the regular way it was found that it would cause several problems: - You need 2-4 THT to transport a whole detachment which is seen as a to high a number because this would be a 4-8DC flyer with Reinforced Armour.
- using stats based on the Thunderhawk Gunship would tempt players to use the THT detachment in ways conflicting with the background of the THT eg ground attacks (8-16 Twin Heavy Bolter are a serious thread to infantry formations).
So i represent the following changes:
Foir Airassaults and Transport actions and Planetfall simply place a single THT model on the table. Disembark troops as you would with a Droppod. Proceed with the action as usual.
This way the THT is simply a transport option and isn't used after the transported models are brought to the table.
For AA shots against the THT assume a number of DC of 2 per transported Land Raider and 1 per transported Rhino-chassis with 4+RA. AA attacks of the THT are 1 AA4+ shot with 15cm per DC. Per 2 DC lost and per critical hit remove a Land Raider or two Rhino-chassis as casualties.
What do you think?

Nope.
The THT is fine as a transport for:
- A formation of devestators or scouts inside their Rhinos. - A formation of tactical marines inside their Rhinos (Requires two THTs) - A formation of devestator marines inside two Land Raiders. (Requires two THTs)
- You need 2-4 THT to transport a whole detachment
The ONLY formation that can't be carried by two THTs is one that requires *four* land Raiders.
And if you're carting around four land raiders, you should be using a sensible vehicle to carry them (The Landing Craft).
So, rather than the 2-4 THT's you claim, the actual number of THT's required to transport the vast majority of formations is 1 or 2 THTs.

But then you still have a 4DC 4+RA bomber with 4 x 30cm AP4+ and 4 x 15cm AP4+ attacks if you keep the stats true to the Thunderhawk Gunship. Personally i have no problems with this stats only to use the THT as a bomber for ground attacks.

Then you make it cost an appropriate ammount of points.

I thought about a 2 THT formation. Why use them if i can get a Landing Craft for the same or less points to drop a Tactical Detachment AND have the ability to stuff in even more gear.

a - because the THT's have more potent combat abilities than the Landing Craft and can be used in an axuillirary attack role once they unload.
b - because all your eggs aren't in one basket.
In return for that, you lose a decent chunk of your transport capacity.

I don't get the point of this.
What's wrong with using them for Planetfall like normal? So they get a bunch of firepower on the ground. So what? It's 0cm move, 30cm range, has to be pre-plotted and scatters. It's probably less total firepower than the Deathwind attacks, and you pay a gigantic premium to planetfall the vehicles over free drop pods.
I don't understand how that's a balance or flavor issue.
Are you just after a way to "drop pod" vehicles instead of normal planetfalling?

I think this has arisen due to Hena's objection to the Thunderhawk Transporter's weapon loadout (He feels it is too powerful to be a support aircraft).

That's obfuscation Hena.
You would rather make up your own vehicle with half the number of guns and a different armour rating, because you think the WYSIWYG weapon stats are too powerful.

I apologize if I have your stats wrong again, but don't you have your THT stats with 2x Twin Heavy Bolters instead of 4x Twin Heavy Bolters?
