If your file is less that 150kb, you can simply attach it to your message here...

I've gotten the file to download and will take a look this evening.

Yep, you could try attaching the list directly to your post. Alternatively, you could upload to our own file storage:

Or, just email it to me and I would be happy to host it.

Glad you have dropped the titans+navy

Is there any need for tactical sword brethren? - aren't these basically veteran marines - which all chapters have and aren't in other marine lists.

Will give it a go after open war, obviously the key is the balance of the various thawks

Those neophyte bikes look more like 30 points than 25, but it's probably not exploitable.

I'd be inclined to keep the bike save the same as the basic infantry save, as that's the most common "conversion" from infantry to bikes (Eldar being a big exception).

IIRC Black Templars almost exclusively use Land Raider Crusaders, so having full formations of them would seem to be appropriate.

Cybershadow - haha a cunning plan!!!!!! thanks that is a great idea and help.

Steve54 - now I?ve got a bit of a feel for the list I also like not having titans (but this means I?m going to have to find another reason to get E&C to sell me two or three of his new warhounds!!!! :D ).

Sword Brethren: I like them in the list for two reasons, first I like the fluff, when a space marine who has enough training and skill to use Terminator armour, but has no armour, why then he would suddenly not go to battle or not use his skill is weird and two I?ve always wondered why there aren't veteran marines in the marine list? ? ? ? So with that in mind ?and this great opportunity Hena has given me, why not try them out?

Any and all playtesting is very welcome and appreciated.

Nealhunt - thanks I was going on Eldar as a reference (stupid!!!) but having looked at the 40k Space Marine Codex (Heresy!!) scout bike keep the same armour save so I?ll go with that and you.

on the point cost thing I like the 25 point increments and as normal bikes are 35 points each and a neophyte biker loses and point of save and CC, I think 25 should be ok, but playtesting could prove me wrong!

Hena - as I?m getting two THT in the post soon much playtesting shall happen!!!

Land Raider Crusader is the main tank BT use because it enables them to do just what they are good at which is get troops into combat unharmed and as E&C said BT discovered the Crusader aren't they going to have a lot of them?

and yes i'll take out being able to have more than 4 Land Raiders in a formation.

thanks for the comments and help

Sounds good (though, to be pedantic, SM bikes are 40 points each).

I'm supposed to play next weekend, possibly a big game or a couple small ones.  I'll try to test it out then.

Now to start fiddling with a theoretical army list...

bikes, i've another mistake i've made it the list, in the main rulebook you get 5 bikes for 200 points but using Hena's Scions of Iron list as a base you get 4 bikes for 175, what i did like a fool  :p is use the book number and Hena's points cost.

so the question is which one do i change the number of bikes or the points cost :confuse: ?

Heh.  Didn't even see that.

I think bigger formations is more in keeping with the style of the list.
=======

Edit:  Another thing that just occurred to me as I was looking over the list... the Thawk, LC, and Strike Cruiser are all in the main list.  The way I read it, that means they count as detachments for the 1/3 Crusader restriction.

It seems like that could be restrictive.  It might be a challenge to build an air assault list list, for example.  Something like...

Crusaders w/ neophytes in Thawk
Crusaders w/ SC in Razorbacks
Bikes w/ neophytes
Sword Bretheren Terminators
2x assault in Thawk

To me, that looks like a very BT infantry core army (~2-2.5K), but the Thawks push it well over the ratio of what's legal and it still needs some form of AT fire support to be viable.
