I'd just want to keep the powerlevels between the tanks. So that they could be costed equally. That is really one nice thing about epic that not everything is separately costed.

I agree it's nice if things cost the same, but Vindicators have always been a seperate formation, so there's nothing stopping you dropping the points cost, because nothing other than giving Vindicators much more powerful stats (like a MW shot or something) will make them worth 75pts as an upgrade, or 275pts as a formation.

For 75pts if you want a tank upgrade, quite simply you take a Hunter.

I can see a use for vindies at 50 points, especially as part of a LC load. I like the 6 strong 350 formation as well you can get in the EpicUK BT list I think.

EpicUK dropped the formation cost to 250pts, and the upgrade to 50pts, and increased the speed to 25cm... and they're still not taken.

This was taken by Matt O. to Open War 12

Terminator + Supreme Commander + 4x Land Raiders
Predator (2x Destructors / 2x Annihilators) + Hunter
Vindicator
Whirlwind + Hunter
Scout + Razorback - Lascannon
Warhound
Warhound
Thunderhawk
Thunderhawk
Thunderbolts

Predator (2x Destructors / 2x Annihilators)

And that adequately explains to me why he didn't win, independent of any other considerations.

Barring Open War 12 which did see a lot of variation (it was right after the EpicUK lists were released, no?), EpicUK tournament lists seem at least to my view to have returned much to the status quo they were at before, only with slightly more pricy Warhounds and Terminators.

He didn't win the tournament no, but he did win 2 games and drew the other also finishing undefeated at the event.

How did the Vindicators do for him?

75points does seem overpriced for a Vindicator IMO, 225 and 50 seems a better costing that would see them used a bit more without them being too cheap (see no reason they have to be the same price as Predators either they're a completely separate formation).

I agree with everything GlynG has posted here.   :agree:

I agree with everything Chroma has posted about what GlynG has posted.

On the Formation level,
200pts, I could see myself using them regularly.
225pts, I could see myself using them if I've got 25pts left over, and don't need that extra Bike Squad.
250pts, I'd rarely see myself considering (let alone fielding) them.
275pts, well, we were using MarkConz's version for a while (MW4+), and they STILL weren't being used.

On an upgrade level, similarly. Given the gamestyle emphasis on activations, keeping non-essential marginally synergistic upgrades as cheap or cheaper (like in the above 50/225 breakdown), is the only way to see them used.
