What are the 'proper' Heavy Flamer stats? I thought they are identical to the Ork Skorcha: 15cm AP4+ Ignore Cover. The bigger version is the Inferno Cannon: 30cm AP3+ Ignore Cover.
Both with no special effect on the FF value.
That two of them on the same unit would make the base FF-attack Ignore Cover was a new idea i modified from the Multi-melta.

So...

Where does the list stand?  What's your collective opinion on how close it is to being GT-ready?

As you guys might have noticed, I'm interested in including Salamanders in some scenarios for the "Mean and Green" campaign/supplement.  There will be several "close quarters" kinds of scenarios where their flamer/melta stuff makes sense, and they were noted in the Armageddon background fiction as going in and clearing out Rokks.  It makes perfect sense to use Salamanders (plus, they're green...).

But cool idea. :)

If tournament ready...well at lest i would want to wait for the new Codex Space Marines to see what this Land Rauder Redemeer is capable of. Because it cries out loud SALAMANDERS!

But else the list seems ready but a bit unwieldly and short ranged if you include any of the special Salamander stuff. But oh well..this was the intention :D

I'd like tot ry a fairly radical revision to make it more mech, currently it just doesn't seem to work very well. I tried making it x rhinos + raiders to overcome the mech transports problems to no avail. Thought I might try next knocking extra armour cost down (prob to 50 points for stuff like preds). If that doesn't work or goes wrong try decreasing the cost of the extra salamanders and increasing the cost of the thunderhawk and stuff. However I worry about drop podding becoming to good then.

However I'm largely waiting for Marine month to do all this.

@Chris. More mech? Well ok. The Salamanders have to reach their foes before they can use their short ranged but devastating firepower. But they shouldn't become a clone of the Scions of Iron.
Firefights is the way Salamanders win engagements. And they often have the numbers to be successful at it without the need of Commander.
But is airdrop really so powerful you fear? Have you used it? I have yet to field a Landing Craft.

I think they may very well end up being a short range/FF version of the Scions because, to be honest, I don't see another way of making them work.

Blood angels though can have a lot of bikes and speeders, indeed add them to their formations. Sallies are a bit heavier (ungainly?) and it doesn't work as well. Note they aren't adding 'good' tanks like the pred baal or whatever, rather they get a heavy flamer one.

As to like the scions - well in part, but where they get tanks, the sallies get infantry and transports. So less armour and firepower.

Those are the Salamander Flags from W/D 108, the banners are Fantasy decals that look close to creature on the flag ... So if they look like birds ... blame G/W !  :D
