On a slightly different note what would you like to see for a salamander supplement? Could add in the mechanised spearhead guard (which go well with the Salamander list style wise), but what for an enemy (Eldar Mech?)? Or just stick with army list and background?

Interesting?

From Warseer about new SM Codex:
new land raider variant, called the Redeemer with Str 6 AP3 flamer sponsons and twin linked assault cannon. Sallies like this and the colour section has one in sallies colours.
3 Dread variants. Again sallies seem to favour the new Ironclad Dread which is like a heavy assault/breaching dread. (AV13)

I tried a list where it was 1-2 razors replaced per rhino, scrapping transport rule and adding land raiders without losing rhinos (rhinos being included in the formation and upgrades). Result was unimpressive, LR far to expensive to make up for the 25 point extra razorback transport slot.

Not supposed to be in the Razorback thread?....ok :D

So you propose to goback to the Codex SM Transport rule?

And for a supplement: What about Salamanders, Mechanised Spearhead and Orkamedies Gargant Big Mob?
Still for the 3rd War of Armageddon...yes i like this scenario a lot :)

I suppose this is a yes?

An other idea: The Salamanders where famous for boarding and destroying some Rokks which have landed on Armageddon. So perhabs we could develope the Ork equivalent of the Siegemasters? :D

I guess we need stats for this :D

http://bp0.blogger.com/_4nzgPb....mer.jpg

Land Raider Redeemer
Type Speed Armour CC FF
Armoured Vehicle 25cm 4+ 5+ 3+

Weapon Range Firepower Notes
2 x Inferno Cannon 30cm AP3+ Ignore Cover
AND (15cm) Small Arms Ignore Cover
Twin Assault Cannon 30cm AP4+/AT4+ -
Frag Launchers (Base Contact) Assault Weapon -

Notes: Reinforced Armour, Thick Rear Armour. Transport (may carry one Salamanders Terminator unit OR two of the following units: Space Marine Tactical, Salamanders Tactical, Devastator, Salamanders Devastator & Scout units). The Inferno Cannons can shoot and confer the Ignore Cover special ability to the Land Raider Redemeer's Firefight value.

Could make FF2+. Sadly can't make the inferno cannons give FF ignore cover attacks unless you make them into a new weapon.

Still as an Epic tank it initially strikes me as awful. I guess as a Land Raider transport they could be interesting if air dropped by landing craft - 8 heavy flamers (terminators), 2 MM (devestators), 4 twin Ass Cannon, 8 inferno cannon, landing craft weapons. Lots of ignore cover - but what enemy formation is worth that much?!

Otherwise teh preds seem a better bet with higher speed. Can you see a use for the things?

On a seperate note something I've been considering is dropping the vehicle upgrade costs considerably (50 points for a pred for instance) to try and make the mech formations work. Currently I've no other better ideas.

It's because it has two flamer based weapons with Ignore Cover that makes the base FF-attack to Ignore Cover too.
Thats the initial reason i gave Salamander Terminators and Predator Incinerators this feature.
And still don't know about the transport capacity. The Frag Launchers and Twin Assault Cannon suggest that it is based on the Crusader. So the same transprt Capacity as Crusader is not entirely out of the question. If this assumtion is true then i would drop the Land Raider Crusader out of the list to be replaced by the Redeemer.

@Vehicle upgrades: Could work.
A goof tactic so far seems to be to really bulk out one or two formations whith asmuch extra Infantry and vehicles you can and but them in the way of enemy formations. Because of ATSKNF, the tough armour of the Infantry and the size of the formations it is hart ro move away.
Big downside is that such a formation is really expencive so that yopu have a hard time from keeping the opponent to move around you to. This is expecially true against an opponent with lots of small formations eg Space Marines (i hate Land Speeders :D )

I would assume it has massive fuel cells! The Heavy flamer is based on the 'proper' heavy flamer stats that somehow got lost in the transition to printed swordwind, but hopefully should be corrected now.
