in the ST thread...? :D

If you're having a twin-linked Heavy Flamer on a RB then it's FF should be Ignore Cover too. I'm surprised you left the twin-HB one in as well, I would have though the HF would do that better, while the twin-Las one would be useful as well for shooting the big ones and tackling the many tyranid AVs.

Well I was trying to go with your idea they would use lots of anti Tyranid weapons and AP suggests that but I'm OK with either really.

Two versions of the Stormtalon in one list? Seems confusing and a bad idea to me. The visual difference between the two is negligible on a 40k scale, just a different end poking out of an otherwise identical gun pod:The difference between the fighter and the fighter bomber would be hard to notice for people to notice and not very WYSIWYG. Fighter Stormtalon only please.

Just ditch the need for a bomber? People rarely take bombers in any case and if the Scythes list is slightly limited in this aspect, put it down to their limited supplies.

Or give them a SM aircraft bomber? e.g. the Thunderhawk Bomber would be the best candidate and if they have Thunderhawks it's simple for them to equip them with bombs if they don't have the IN around. Or the Storm Eagle could be a good candidate for a bomber as it's basically a heavily armed half-Thunderhawk with a 2BP missile launcher on top.

A Thunderhawk bomber might work.

I'm still not keen on changing the role of the RB from that in all other chapters. I agree that Scythes would rely on RBs more than other chapter's due to their limited options, but I think having the better HF RB in the list would encourage more to be used as transports and more would be seen that way anyway.

Well given their lack of armour types I think the Scythes would be the prime candidates for this formation and would have as many anti-tyranid vehicles they could muster. The HF RB adds to the arsenal.

I thought so too however Heavy Flamers are not Ignore Cover so Twin just means +1 to hit. The stats you're proposing are the Flame Storm Cannon's.

I can keep the Lazor Back if that's what people want...?

Well, that depends where you look

Heavy flamers are AP4+ Ignore Cover and Small Arms Ignore Cover in the following units:
Salamander Terminators, Predator Incinerator, Siege Terminators, Baran Sappers, Salamander Command Vehicle, Stormlord, Stormsword (cadian) Catachan Veterans, Catachan Sentinels, Harakoni Sappers, Deciever (Thousand Sons) Death Brigade Infantry, N20 Halftrack,

they are AP4+ Ignore Cover without Small Arms in the following units
Baal Predators, Siege Dreadnaughts, Death Korp Grenadiers, Stormsword, Sisters of Battle, Penitent Engines, Repressors, Bassilica Imperialis, Traitor Salamander Command Vehicle, Bloodied Stormsword, Gorgon, Demiurge Gorgon,

in some lists, they're both, depending on the unit (my own list included in that) but in general, I think that the IC small arms are the right way to go (in my case, it was a statcopying that i did not notice)

Interestingly, Twin Heavy Flamers have never got the firefight boost, but I suspect only because they're not in any lists where the other weapon stat has been adopted.

Twin Heavy Flamers are AP3+ IC on the following units
Chimera, Immolators, Defiler

Yeah that sounds cocky now i read what I wrote ;D
I was more meaning have both load outs in a single list giving light weight airpower with many options vs heavier bombers. Regardless I just love seeing some Talons :D

I hadn't picked up on the fact it was like that, not terribly consistent! Where an infantry stand has just one heavy flamer amongst their weapons it seems sensible for them not to ave ignore cover FF as only part of their FF would be coming from the HF. Where there are multiple flamer weapons it seems more reasonable for it to.

How come Baal Predators don't have ignore cover FF when the Predator Infernum does Dobbsy? Both have 2 Heavy Flamers and FF4+.

I assume some of them are typos in the compendium e.g. Salamander having small arms ignore cover but traitor salamander not.

Yes a large majority of these discrepancies are. I'm in the process of trying to sort this for everyone by compiling an Epic Weapons List from all army lists.

There are some units with Heavy Flamers and no ignore cover FF in both Raiders and Siege, plus the Black Legion list so it's not just a case of typos when compiling the compendium/tournament pack.

If units were to be changed to consistently give HF FF ignore cover, some long playtested units in approved lists would get a boost. Could be worth starting a separate thread to discus it perhaps as this could potentially be controversial.

Comparing to Epic-UK they seem to be more consistent with giving ignore cover to anything with heavy flamers.

You also have to realize the scope of getting all the stats compiled. It's not such an easy task.

But I digress from the current topic :)

With Dobbsy stepping away from NetEA development in toto, I'm going to move this into Fan-List for now.

Still a great idea and list and the new permanent AC can made a final decision / appointment around this moving forward.
