No Special Weapons for the Grey Hunters (normally seems to be represented by Plasma Guns, 15cm, AP5+/AT5+), when they have 1 per 5 men (rumoured to be free in the new codex)?

I prefer them to remain ranged attackless, normal marines have a special weapon per squad, just because SWs have an extra one doesn't justify representing them with a ranged attack IMO.

That special weapon is often taken as a close combat power weapon / power fist anyway. Having them have no guns makes the Long Fangs extra shots more reasonable too - otherwise suddenly you might risk them becoming an overly shooty formation. Lets just see what the new codex says anyway.

I like the HW changes - and I suppose the wolf riders will have to go in even though I think they are ridiculous. Does every 40k codex have to include something blindingly stupid - marines on wolves, deathstrikes in a skirmish etc.

Its a pity to lose the exterminator but I suppose the appendix is appropriate for it if they have lost access to it.

I would resist adding Land raider+predator variants, IMO in epic they should only be available to the chapter they are iconic to - baal for BA, redeemer for Salamanders, Crusader for BT etc. That they are, in 40k, available to everybody is just a sales decision which reduces the individuality of the chapters. This doesn't need to be reflected in epic - it reduces the individuality of the list and makes the  lists Codex+stuff.

I rather like the idea of them riding giant wolves myself, not sure what others have got against it. Warmaster wolves would probably be perfect models to convert some with too.

Great start, from just a quick read through and taking into consideration what has already been posted, I would be tempted to give the Long Fangs four shots each.

I think wolf riding super-humans in power armour are simultaniously hillarious, and also really awesome.

I reckon they fit right in with the Space Elves, evil Space Robot Skeletons, the mere concept of (Imperator!) Titans, future wars fought with Cavalry charges, elite soldiers who paint themselves bright blue and red, and a whole bunch of other good stuff.

I mean, who questions the fact that the Imperium uses Hobbit Snipers?
Or that if you say the biggest Ork bosses's name quickly, you say "Margret Thatcher"?

Heck, the whole concept of Orks as psychic football hooligans in space is daft as hell, but we generally think they're hillarious/awesome and move on with the game...

...so what I'm trying to say is that the 40k background is largely composed of blindingly stupid stuff, and that's why I love it.  :)

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I think I'll leave the Wolves in, but stick to them all in one formation. If someone wants to convert them up then they're free to, as it stands they can't drop pod, garrison or ride in a Thunderhawk thus everyone is happy (for a given value of happy).

I don't plan to add any more to the list now, only tweak points costs and maybe the stats of the units that I've introduced.

@Hena - I'm afraid that, certainly at the moment, Epic UK lists work best for our group. The lists are clearly available on a single website (we seem to have a new wave of players, and this has helped), are acceptable at any Tournaments we might go to (which are run by Epic UK :) ). It follows that any marine list I create will use the same stats (to save arguments / confusion during the course of a game).

I'm though sad that you chose to use EpicUK stuff for many other points.

Perhaps if the ERC posted their completed army book on a nice website...

I'm still not seeing Long Fangs being too good with 4 shots, yes if you look in look in terms of the capabilities of that one stand on it's own they look fantastic. However they would be a Grey Hunters only add-on of a couple of stands so you really need to look at the bigger picture of the formation - a Grey Hunters formation with attached Long Fangs would have 8 shots from 8 marine stands - the exact same numbers of shots as normal marines would have - but they are much easier to suppress - get four blast markers on that big formation and it can't shoot.

For what it's worth, I agree with Glyn.

Under the weight of public opinion, the Long Fangs will get 4 missile Launchers

V 0.2.1 will be online some time later (the OH has given me a list of 'little jobs' to do on my so-called day off, and I'm currently watching Ocean's 11).

I'd go for a mix of different heavy weapons on the long-fangs, say 2 missile launchers, a heavy bolter and a lascannon per base for example.

Or you could even throw in a Multi-Melta.

As to using Epic-UK stats, if the list is accepted by the wider UK tournament players it would then be easy to add it to their website and make the list UK tournament legal.

Much better to stick to the same stat as standard marines IMO, which is obviously an abstraction of all those different weapons as one. The list will already be plenty different enough from a normal marine list without differeniating for it's own sake.
