BL and TRC:  What is your ETA on a final army list?  Now that the Redeemer stats seem to be settled, it looks to me like the remaining changes are almost entirely stylistic, i.e. none of them will make appreciable differences to game balance.  It's time to stop fiddling and make a decision.

I'd like to get ERC votes and put lists into a NetEA army list document.

I think the 'Salamander Dreadnought' should be renamed to something like 'Melta Dreadnought' or whatever, so other lists can use it.

I'd like to put the Melta Dreadnought in the Blood Angels list, at which point the list can be locked down.

EDIT:

Oh and the Salamander Dreadnought doesn't have the Walker ability.

I'd call it "Hellfire dreadnought" but that name has semi-officially been taken by the TLLC/ML combo since Dawn of War.

Purgator Dreadnought?

edit: or, say, Vulcan Dreadnought - has enough Salamanders connotations, and can still be interpreted in a more generic fashion.

The Latin word for 'boiling' is 'Fervidus', which I quite like?

Vulcan Dreadnought sounds good.

I wonder if anyone can do an obscure enough dog latin translation of "microwave".

Fervidus sounds okay.

Is there a better name than Melta Dreadnought? Close Support? Hot Stuff? Halitosis Harry?
Edit, never walk away and have lunch during posting, always beaten to punch! I like the ferviwhatiferous name. Vulcan is either too jet bomberish or rapid firing for this fellow.

Must say not at all impressed with the current redeemer stats. Not least because range 2x30cm is too much of a stretch for the thing. I think it will be 'Salamander Redeemer' at this rate rather than changing it with each set of changes other people will go through as they in slowly playtest through the options, then just jump in at the end (no doubt with a points change).

Otherwise just need a computer with word to make the changes.

And would you believe it it has just been delievered, one word 2007 doc coming up.

Close Support?

I like "Close Support Dreadnought"... simple, generic, and to the point.  Even "Assault Dreadnaught" would be fine.

We could even set up the Dreadnaughts in the NetEA books thusly:

Dreadnought (Tactical Configuration)
Assault Cannon, Power Fist

Dreadnought (Support Configuration)
Missile Launcher, Twin-lascannon

Dreadnought (Assault Configuration)
Multi-melta, Power Fist

Etc, etc.

It's a Dreadnought. With an O.

/pedant

I like Chroma's ideas too.

Ooh, I like that, I'd stick in a name for each as well, so say Dreadnought 'Hellfire' (Support Configuration)
Missile Launcher, Twin-lascannon

Dreadnought 'Fervidus' (Assault Configuration)
Multi-melta, Power Fist

Dreadnaught ? (Make him Deredeo?)(Tactical Configuration)
Assault Cannon, Power Fist

Dreadnought 'Furioso' (Close Assault Configuration)
2 power fist, melta gun, heavy flamer (is that the right config?)
Or just have the old Contemptor class with 2 storm bolters and power fists

Dreadnought 'Mortis' (Fire Support Configuration)
2 Missile Launchers

Dreadnought 'Ironclad' (Siege Configuration)
Hurricane bolters, close combat weapon

Then two more old chaps Deredeo (power fist and missile launcher) and Furibundus (power fist and Lascannon).

Terminus? He's mirroring standard Terminator weapon options somewhat.

Storm bolters are boring   HF and MG is indeed the fully upgraded configuration.

Quote:

Dreadnought 'Mortis' (Fire Support Configuration)
2 Missile Launchers

2 Missile Launchers are indeed the default configuration (in the 5th edition update) but it's a bit meh. Twin autocannons maybe?

Quote:

Dreadnought 'Ironclad' (Siege Configuration)
Hurricane bolters, close combat weapon

Gah, not the Hurricane bolters. Siege hammer and a power fist, combined for a single TK attack (base, not EA)?

There's also the old school siege dreadnought with the inferno cannon, siege drill and a heavy flamer.

You can't normally have PF and ML as they are both left arm options. However there's a somewhat popular Plasma Cannon / Power Fist configuration.

Also I'm not sure about Rogue Trader names, they're a bit too casual compared with later naming conventions.

I'd prefer a Mortis to be armed with the original configuration of 2 x twin-linked autocannon. It's more iconic and coller looking than just twin missile launchers!

Think some of us are getting a bit carried away here - this is epic with relevant abstractions; there's no need to give stats to every single Dreadnought type any more than there is to have stats for every possible Razorback type say, the games could quickly get over-complicated.

IMO Melta, Furioso, Mortis and Siege should be plenty and then added sparingly to lists (people could (always unofficially sub them in for friendlies or scenarios anyway).

The Dark Angels are the iconic users of Mortis Dreadnoughts ; When the ERC does a proper Dark Angels list I'm sure they'll be suitable there.

How about "Calidus Dreadnought" für the Multi-melta one? Calidus is latin for hot.

So we have:
'Tempestas' Dreadnought (Assault Cannon and Power-Fist with StormBolter)
'Hellfire' Dreadnought (Twin Lascannon and Missile Launcher)
'Furioso' Dreadnought (Power-Fist with StormBolter and Power-Fist with Meltagun)
'Calidus' Dreadnought (Multi-melta and Power-Fist)
'Ironclad' Dreadnought (Hurricane Bolters and Seismic Hammer)
'Obsidio' Dreadnought (Inferno Cannon and Siege-Drill with Heavy Flamer)
'Mortis' Dreadnought (Two Twin Autocannons)

Remembers me that i should have a look at my Dark Angels armylist again.

That Dreadnought type is known simply as the 'Siege' Dreadnought, officially so.
