Just play Blue Angels, or Blue Templars

I cannot see any problem with allowing already painted figures to be used for different lists.

There's no way any advantage could be gained just by using "red marines" as "blue marines",unless there's a problem with the "blue marines" list then it wouldn't matter which colour they were painted anyway.

As I see it it's just part of the "Count as" rule,these Ultramarines count as Blood Angels etc.

So then we ban all Biel Tan/Steel Legion/Black Legion players who don't fetch the correctly painted armies too.

The Internet is full of posters with lightning-like reflexes!  *laugh*

Well, I have been told on this very forum to stop playing toy soldiers and go play video games so I wanted to avoid another telling off   (This was over my support of aircraft disengaging imeadiately!)

I want to play Blood Angels and Codex, but have all my models available. I'll continue to move all my stuff over to my two tone scheme now. Should make for a massive force eventually.

I'd far prefer to play somebody with a nice looking army in the 'wrong' colours than a red BA army with no effort put into it.

For epic, I don't think it really matters so long as your opponent knows what rules you are using since there really aren't many of us around these days. HOWEVER, from an fluff perspective, don't call them blood angels if they are blue or ultramarines if they are red/orange. They can be your own personal chapter that just uses the BA rules but there is established fluff for what blood angel armor looks like and we don't have the authority to say blood angels to wear different colors than red or perhaps orange.

I think it might more be Ultramarines (or whomever) fighting in a "Blood Angel-style" rather than mispainted Blood Angels.

No problem at all with this.

It's clear what each unit is, it's not like you have Tactical Marines side-by-side with Assault Marines, but both using the Terminator models & painted identically. The only thing that changes is the organisation.




To go easy on your opponent it would be courteous to make sure that the Death Company were marked out in some manner to make them clearly different from Assault Marines.

One of my pet beefs is that I have a dislike of playing against Black Legion or L&TD armies that don't have effort expended on them to mark out that formations are aligned with a particular God (and thus can summon certain types of Daemons).

So basically, I'd sooner play an 'Ultramarines fighting in the style of the Blood Angels' army than I would play an...ummm...Black Legion army... where everything is painted the same, but blessed differently.
