I would prefer to see the list take the approach the Chaos Marines list took, where both Rhinos and Drop Pods are optional upgrades, you pay your points to get them, and it's 100% clear from your army list what formations have what kind of transport.

Ginger (and all other pro-swapping folks), do you understand the argument against this? ?I completely understand where you are coming from and have posted as of such. ?The problem is in the principle. ?Yet you and others are continually coming back to the same old (and FALSE) argument: that this is a matter of deployment. ?
The example you bring up with the Orks would be better compared against a Tactical formation that you chose to bring without Rhinos. ?That formation at the time of deployment still has a choice of dropping (if you have the spacecraft), garrisoning, or deploying along the table edge as normal. ?If you have a Thunderhawk it could deploy in that too either via planetfall or without it. ?You actually have one more option than an Ork formation would in an armylist with a Landa and spacecraft (that option being the drop pods). ?There is nothing forced about it.
I don't see a need for two lists - in fact two lists would restrict you further. ?Just man up, make your decision as to whether you are going to bring your Rhinos and deal with it. ?Sheesh!

To be fair Mosc, I have also posted that I understood your view about being against this on principle, while some have indicated that though against the idea under the current wording, they would be more inclined to support it under some revised wording. Equally others have felt that the Marines need a boost, but not perhaps through these means.
F&C's response to Dobbsy (and above) suggested that like some he is perhaps more concerned with the formation definition and costs involved than being flat against the principle no matter what, and I was exploring his views in that area.
