Hi there. This is my first battlereport to test my Salamanders Armylist V1.3 against my friends DarkAngels SpaceMarines.

No experimental rules where used.

Salamanders (V1.3)


The metal Razorbacks are with Twin HeavyBolters, the Rhinos with Devastator markings are Razorbacks with Twin Lascannons.
The unpainted Devastators are the Multi-melta equipped ones.
The unpainted Tactical unit is equipped with a Multi-melta as is the painted Tactical unit with the...well Melta-gun :)
The Captains unit does have a MissileLauncher but the model itself has a Multi-melta.
The unprimed LandRaider is the Helios.

- 3 Razorbacks (2 twin HeavyBolter, 1 twin Lascannon)

- 2 Razorbacks (1 twin HeavyBolter, 1 twin Lascannon)

- Salamanders Dreadnought

LandRaider Detachment 425pts
- 3 LandRaiders, 1 LandRaider Helios

- 2 Predator Annihilator, 2 Predator Incinerator

- 3000pts, 9 activations

Cross-post re MW wepaons in assaults.
No, they are assigned and resolved first - but they are still simultaneous - you can't have a unit killed before it can deal damage - you don't go second, just assign second as it were (and this will be cleared up soon anyway). I hope no units got killed by regular attacks before they made theirs!

The biggest problem that can currently happen is that all the potential targets are killed by normal fire, leaving no targets for the MW attacks.

Those hills look very nice in particular - but yeah green marines vs other green marines on green board - aahhh! :D At least L4 will approve! :)

Incidentally being a lazy painter I use my DA army to reinforce my salamander army and hope no-one notices (curse those deathwing - entirly inappropiate!).

Turn 1 Clash of Green

No Teleports

Initiative: Salamanders

The Thunderbolts roam from the sky while both Hunters miss and shoot their payload on the DarkAngels Devastator Detachment and manage to destroy the CC-Dreadnought and place two blastmarkers.

Salamanders retain the initiative and the Thunderhawk (while one Hunter missile bounces) off its armour starts its air assault with its loaded Salamanders Devastators on the DarkAngels Devastators and intermingled LandSpeeders 2.
The Salamanders Dreadnought and one Devastator unit are used to trap one Devastator and the DarkAngels Librarian inside their Rhino.



All well and good...unti i started to roll really crap for armour saves :(
Salamanders manage to destroy the remaining Dradnought, the Hunter and the Rhino with the Lirbarian but onky the two Salamanders Devastators with Multi-Meltas (theunpainted ones) survive. The Thunderhawkis destroyed due to assault resolution roll and the two remaining units withdraw to the south.
OUCH!

End of assault:


The DA-Scouts engage and shoot to no effect at the remaining Salamanders Devastators.

The Salamanders Predators double forward and destroy two of the DA-Scouts Razorbacks.

The DA-Whirlwinds sustainand fire indirectly atthe Predators destroying one Annihilator and Incinerator each.

Salamanders LandRaider double along the road and shoot at the DA-Tactical Detachment destroying 2 Rhinos and 3 Tactical units.

The DA-Devastators marshall and remove all blastmarkers

The Salamanders Scouts go on overwatch while the DA-Tacicals marshall too.

Salamanders Tactical 2 doubles in direction of DA-Objective 1 and shoot at LandSpeeders 1 to no effect.

LandSpeeders 2 moves and destroy 2 Rhinos.

The Salamanders Whirlwinds sustain indirectly and destroy 4 LandSpeeders of the LandSpeeder 1 Detachment which breakes and withdraws.

Salamanders Tactical 2 double tothe crossroad and kill one DA-Scout and Razorback.

Both DA-Assaut Detachmend start ar Firefight with the remaining Salamanders Devastators and whiped them out but loose one unit in the process.

Turn 2: Green Strikes Back

No Teleports

Initiative: Salamanders

The LandRaiders sustain on LandSpeeders 2 and the only visible LandSpeeder is vaporised by 5 Lascannon hits.

Now the way is clear for Tactical 1. They declare an intermingled assault on the Scouts and DA-Tactical and roll...a ONE! ARGH!
Instead the shoot and kill one tactical unit.

The DAs Whirlwinds sustain on the tightly packed Salamanders Tactical 1.

Bevore the barrage:


After the barrage:

3 Tactical units, the unit with the Captain, 1 Multi-Melta unit, 1 Rhino and 1 Razorback are destroyed.

The DA retain with LandSpeeders 2 and destroy one Laserback of Salamanders Tactical 2.

The Salamanders Whirlwinds sustain on the Assault Detahcments and manage to destroy one unit.

The DAs Assault Detachments assaulkt the Predators. Both remaining Predatoirs are destroyed and one unit of Assault 2 which is enough to break Assault 2 which withdraws to some ruins near the DA-Devastators.

Salamanders Tactical 2 sustains and destroys 1 LandSpeeder of LandSpeeder 2.

The DA-Tactical sustains on Tactical 2 but onl yplaces a blastmarker.

The Thunderbolts come fromthe sky. The Hunters manage to destroy one fighter and then it rains missile and multilaser fire which destroys the remaining Rhino of the DA-Devastators.

Da-Scouts place one blastmarker on Tactical 1 while LandSpeeders 1 marshall. The DA-Devastators take ahold action and move around.

All formation rally except Assault 2 which remains broken.

Turn 3: Terminator Assault

Terminator 1 teleport arround the Salamanders Blitz and the Whirlwinds. No BMs.

Terminator 2 teleport behind the Salamanders Scouts. No BMs.

Initiative: DarkAngels

The DA-Whirlwinds sustain oin Tactical 1 but only place a blastmarker.

DA retaion with Assault 1 and DA-Scouts and assault Tactical 1. Tactical 1 looses and only the Multi-melta unit and a Rhino survive which withdraw back along the road.

The Salamanders Whirlwinds move a bit away from Terminator 1 and sustain fire on them but only place a blastmarker.

LandSpeeder 2 sustains on Tactical 2 and destroy 1 Bolterback and Tactical unit which now break and withdraw deeper into the forest.

DA-tacticals retain but fail and take ahold action instead.

The LandRaiders advance and whipe out  LandSpeeder 2.

DA-Devastator shoot at theLandRaiders but onlyplace a blastmarker.

Thunderbolts want to take off but instead choose to stand down.

Terminators 1 assault the Salamanders Whirlwinds in a firefight and destroy one vehicle but the Whirlwinds manage to destroy one Terminator unit and win by 2! One more Terminator unit is hacked down as they flee to the east into the forests.

Terminator 2 assault the Salamanders Scouts which are stillon overwatch but take no casualties. Only 2 Scout units survive the onslaught and withdraw near the Whirlwinds.

Terminator 1, Assault 2 and Salamanders Tactical 1 fail to rally.

DarkAngels 1 (Take and Hold), Salamanders 0

Turn 4: End Game

No Teleports

Initiative: DarkAngels

Assault 1 and DA-Scouts assault the LandRaiders. The Captain dies and 3 LandRaiders (including the Helios) are destroyed which withdraw to the south.

Salamander Scouts march to secure DA-Objective 1 to deny TheyShouldNotPass and TakeAndHold.

DA-Tactical sustains on the Scouts but only place a blastmarker.

The Thunderbolt flys in but is taken down by the Hunter.

Thew DA-Devastators move and fire at the Scouts which kills one unit and breaks the Detachment which withdraws through the forest.

Terminator 1 move toward the Whirlwinds ad shoot destroying 1 Whirlwind.

Terminator 2 marshalls.

LandSpeeder 1 advances to secure DA-Objective 2

All Salamanders failto rally whileonly the DA-Tactical fail

DarkAngles: 3 (Take and Hold, Defend the Flag, They Should Not Pass), Salamandera: 0

Fazit:

The Salamanders Devastator units with Multi-meltas did the statisticaly correct damage: 2 units, FF on 4+ = 1 destroyed unit.

Only one Predator Incinerator came intorange to shoot. It did hit with one HeavyFlamer with a 4, a Heavy Bolter would have missed but the other Incinerator was to far away.

The surviving Salamander Tactical unit was forced in base contact and to couldn't use its MW FF5+ attack.


The Helios was a very valuable addition to the LandRaiders. It givs the formation the much needed AP shots. Yes most of the time he will hit only on 6+ but on more than one targed due to the barrage template.
But i think more than one isn't needes for the LandRaider Detachment. But the FF of the LandRaiders should indeed increased to 4+ instead of the Ruelbook 5+.
