I expected him to take Artillery and a Warlord, but he said he wanted to try something different.
I think it already was quite a blood bath.

It sounds like it was ... The IG with all those AFVs and Grunts, even without FA (and a Titan - Overkill!!), they are resilient and tough enough to survive and accomplish their mission or at least kill a lot of the enemy !

Having recently returned to playing e:A after a couple of years flirtation with Flames of War, this thread (and similar discussions both here and on SG) interests me. The 'book' marine list makes no bones about its combined arms nature, and it actually seems that after reading various comments, some points were set deliberately to encourage exactly that combined arms approach. If this is the case, then is it any wonder the list does not work as well as expected, when you surgically excise a key element of the list?
Perhaps a 'variant list' like the official white scars (and a couple of others that seem to be around, like salamanders and blood angels) based around an armored column, would be the answer?
If someone has already done an 'armoured column' list, I would love to see it!
