hey all, today I played my first ever epic games against tyranids and although I lost the first game(no idea on tactics) for the scond gameI quickly gained experience and formed a plan from killing lots of little ones with the orb in the first game(both armies keep regenerating so I considered this useless after a while).when I found out what happens when there is no syanapes around I quickly started killing the bigger stuff with the flame templates(MW!) and aimed the orb and pylon at these first in the 1st turn I held my reserves back and brang on one of my destroyer formations and my pylon. my concentrated fire took down a heirophant. my second turn thing got ugly for the nids as my reserves arives surounding an issolated formation on their flank with only their other heirophant nearby for help so I fired my orb first and to my opponents horror it was destroyed with a single hit as I rolled a 6! it took me 2 more turns of anti titan firing to drop a lucky domonatrix but the highlight of the game was when a full formation full of carnifexes and warriors led by a tyrant charged the orb and inflicted two points of dammage in which one went critical and the explosion almost wiped out their entire formation including my attacks...sweet. in the end I won convincingly only loosing one phalanx to genestealers. my oppinions along with my opponents were that the necrons were surprisingly very balanced and vunerable to assault however we thought some things seemed not right such as: monolith breaking due to teleport and I belive the monolith should ignore this blast marker. the pylon should have in its special rules "May not phase out" as both me and my opponents forgot about this and it phased out and re-apeared multiple times.....ooops! for those interested heres what I used: 2 phalanxs(with 2 immortals,1 pariah,two spiders in one and one in the other) 1 venator formation(will swap these out) 2 destroyer formations(will take one out) 2 monoliths the orb of Doom! 1 pylon tomb complex next time I will take pictures now I have a regular opponent and with many people considering starting epic! |
