After reading Chroma's five excellent battle reps (thanks for them). An idea came to me. It seemed that the 'crons were suffering to much from just appearing. Now it is okay for the fleshy races to suffer BMs for teleporting (marines panic if they don't appear in perfect formation) but for immortal sevants of gods, such things are merely slight annoyances, to be ignored. Similar being shot at by the enemy isn't that big a deal. True when they hit it can be a problem, but one that can be repaired. Whilst thinking on this I tried to think of a solution that can stop the comical sight of sinlge monoliths breaking themselves as they telport in, but doesn't make fully upgraded phallanxi (phallanes?) too difficult to stop. ATSKNF was disregarded straight away, but the eldar spirit stone rule felt closer to the mark, a subtly change in BMs. As such I thought of the following (or perhaps remembered a thread on it form some time ago) Soulless fluff All units in a necron army, be they constructs, undying soldiers or gods, have one thing in common. They have no soul, no emotion. As such breaking such formations is incredible difficult. It takes more than just widely firing at them, or a bad teleport to slow them down. They have to be destroyed. rule All necron formations only suffer BM for casulties suffered. |

Well, I think Necrons are tough enough as they are right now. Your proposed rule would not only make Disrupt weapons useless against Necrons, it would also make them much too efficient. They already have a 4+ save (and hence suffer less casualties than most armies), their vehicles have "Living Metal" (making it VERY hard for non-TK weapons to damage/destroy them) and they can bring back units from the dead with a simple Marshall action. AND they can all teleport or use portals, so they rarely pick up BMs from enemy fire before they launch an assault. As much as I love my Necrons, I wouldn't want them to become unstoppable. Where would the galaxy go, then? ![]() |

Oh yeah. Disrupt weapons. I forgot about them. The idea though, wasn't to make them too tough, just boast the effiency of low numberunits, stop them breaking by just having a bad teleport and being shot at. |

But the Necrons formations are not really "low-number units". The only exception to this is the Monolith, but a broken Monolith is actually a good thing (since it will be able to teleport somewhere else on the next turn), so... |
