What are the current best Necron proxies out there? A mate of mine's thinking of getting into Epic, but he really wants to play Necrons. |

chaos androids for infantry scarabs for the destroyer body, chaos androids or DRM for body i think they were called ethereals, from the vampire count army in warmaster, for flayed ones ottermans pieces for tomb spiders/pylons (angry robot bug/war engine of antiquity) you might also want to take a look at onyx's painting blog in the 6mm subforum, he has a nice necron army and plenty of tips |

The two Otter models come highly recommended and I believe he has that other war engine for them in the pipeline too. Hopefully one day I will get some other Necrons to join them. Have you looked through the 'how to convert Necrons colour pages' in the Raiders supplement? (assume very likely you will have but worth mentioning just in case) |

Just about everything on the page is easily accessible now (the Obelisks are an issue but there must be plenty of other proxies out there). No need to wait in hope for (the very good looking designs from) Wargames Factory or go hunting on eBay for Chaos Androids. I will definately be snapping up a couple of Otterman's Warbarques once available to finish things off. Hope it helps GR00V3R. |

I can't recall who did it, but I liked the old SM-era Ork infantry as the basic necron warriors.  They are sort of spindly compared to more recent models and a bit hunched so just paint them silver and they look good on the table top.  As far as gauss guns, snip the blade off the weapon, glue a plastic rod to the weapon, and glue the blade onto the end of the rod. |

Onyx has some great work. We couldn't put it in Raiders, unfortunately, because of the IP guidelines. Our plans were to build a pdf with other modeling ideas like those used by Onyx but it got shelved along the way. Sorry! If anyone is interested, I can send what I have and somebody else can pick up the torch on that cross-IP sort of thing. |

I use G/W Chaos Androids and DRM Androids as well as "O-man's Spyders". + will add WGF Deathbots + if E/W makes some in the future ... I'll add those. Plus E&C posted some Android greens and even Vermis is talking about doing some ... So I'd wait a bit, if you can't get a hold of some Chaos Androids or don't prefer DRM. But I like'm both ! And IMO, the WGF Deathbots JBR did are very nice also and will work fine ... I pre-order/paid for 5 sprues ... Between what is available or will be released or may be produced ... There is going to be a lot of Andriods roaming around my gaming table ... ![]() |

Special thanks to Onyx for that DIY. And to Otterman for the additional models. |

Quote: (fattdex @ 14 May 2009, 13:56 ) no idea how I'd cast it though! If you were serious about it, there are a few options: 1. There is Eureka Miniatures who may do it for me if I ask them nicely 2. I have bought a fair few chemicals to make resin. I have been looking for s good excuse to start it and see how it works. This could be a good test. 3. Talk to Mr Otter. He seems to have a sweet set up. |

Yeah it'd be fun to try mate, I have it planned as 7 parts at the moment (hull, 4 vanes, 2 mast tops, maybe other bits by the end) I might have a hookup for cheap printing too at RMIT ;-) However what I meant was it may be a bit of a %^&* to make a mold for. good learning experience though |
