E&C as a someone who plays against the necrons, do you think the whole list is overpowered or just the pylons?

I think the whole list is notably strong... not unstoppably overpowered like it used to be, but very strong nonetheless.

It's worth noting that Zombocom intentionally plays a 'soft' list so as to give us more interesting (winnable!) games.

Could you do a batrep with hard list? Just to allow others to see what list and how it is used which dominates there.

Or just post what a "hard' list looks like.

I doubt I'd ever take a c'tan if that was the case. They're not that good apart from the c'tan bomb.

And I think that's a good thing, as it's a little ridiculous that there's a C'tan at every Necron battle.

A hard list would generally be popcorning and maxing out on good stuff.

2 x Warrior Phalanx + pariah
2 x Warrior Phalanx
10 x Monolith
2 x Pylon
1 x C'tan

2970 points

Possibly lose a monolith for a couple more pariahs, or a single pariah and swap the ctan for a supreme commander warbarque.

Obviously the monolith price changes with the latest list do restrict this type of list a lot more than they used to, which is definately a good thing.

Well disallowing single-Monolith formations would solve this popcorning issue.

No non-WE unit should be a formation of itselfe. 3 non-WE units should be the minimum to form a formation.

I am slowly coming round to this way of thinking.

i've played against this list using an Eldar torny list and it's nasty, 17 activations is hard to get rid of as it is, but with Necron maneuverability it's a nightmare

What about only two "support" choices per Phalanx as an additional limit?

It wasn't exactly that list you faced, since I don't have 4 phalanxes modelled up, but it was pretty close. I think I had a warbarque and an obelisk formation in there somewhere too.

That would certainly be a limit on monolith popcorning, but it might also unduly restrict theming armies to be flayed one or destroyer heavy for example. On the whole I probably agree though, it seems a neccesary evil.

By the way, Corey hasn't logged into this site since December, has anyone been in contact with him?

it wasn't against you Zombo someone turned up to the CGC with the army very much like that (in fact i think it was a bit different but not much) but yes we did play that game at Pats house.

It was a really nice army well painted and he was a nice guy but i lasted about one and a half turns up untill the point were his C'tan went critical in the middle of my last formation killing 5 guardian bases 2 wraithlods and a wraithguard base at which point i gave up.

zombocom- that list is insane! i guess i'm lucky that everyone i play with doesn't think of using armies like those, so i never even thought of something like that.
so what would be the better way to prevent this?
do we need to go w/ only 2 support formations or could we add at least one obelisk to the monolith formation?
