My mechanical engineer tells me that he can import .igs and .stp

Your mech eng must have some great toys.... ?:alien: ?:alien:

He has the benefit of an engineering VP that is also a mechanical engineer, so the ME guys get the best toys.

I know that unearthing old threads isn't exactly what you're supposed to do, but as it's still the same story (that has recently been continued after 2 years of absolute silence) I guess it's still better than starting something new that is in fact only the continuation of this old thread.

Anyway... I recently kinda stumbled upon the possibility to try to print the models again. And that's what I did. As you see in the pics below, that machine left me with models that have some weird structure and therefore need to be refined using some good old green stuff or something similar to make their surface... Well, not so ugly. Still, it's something I think I can work with. I'm kinda happy with how this turned out - and once I've greenstuffed my way through the parts I hope I'll be able to cast myself some living machines.

'Nuff said. Here are the pics, I hope this hasn't been done before during the long period of my absence :D.

I'm not sure if this specific sculpt was part of the submission, but a group of skilled modellers put together a proposal including near-full Necron and Tyranid ranges for ForgeWorld... for FREE... and they were turned down.

So, sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Here's a link to at least one of the models, by Otterman.

I'm sure there was another thread about some of the other models, but I can't find it.

Wow!  I knew that this was being pitched to Forgeworld but did not know that the outcome was already known.  Chroma, your post is the first public mention of the pitch in the first place as far as I know.

Do you know when they made their presentation and when they got their answer back?  This is not very good news.  Every single one of those models was top notch and for them to turn them down when they are FREE means either they are not interested in fan help or not in a position to make anything new for the foreseeable future.

Actually, the sad tale was first told here, in this obscurely titled thread:

A Man and His War Engine of Antiquity

So obscure that I never even saw it.

'Not right now; Maybe; We've got your details if we need them'

This is a much better answer than 'no'.  Given the economic downturn, I don't blame any company for not starting a new venture.
