I am giving someone an introduction game this weekend so I thought I would take the oportunity to get my Imperial Guard painted a bit so I can bring along two fully painted forces (after everyone recommended me not to teach someone using nids). Hopefully having the scout titans won't be too confusing but will show the coolness of Epics scale. This is my new supreme commander (will just be used as a commander in the 1000pt army though). ![]() And the 1000pt battle force: ![]() I will bring along some of my Khornate horde for my oponent to use. All of these guys plus two CSM that I forgot when I was taking the picture. ![]() I use the BL list for them and treat the warmachine as a Feral Titan, the Khorne warriors will be a CSM scouting formation for this game and the Juggernaughts I use in place of CSM bikers. |

Cheers guys, I like the painting side of wargaming, it really creates the imagery for me which is where I have the most fun. I prefer to use painted armies myself though I enjoy playing epic against any force, painted or not. Seeing the awesome painting skills of the guys on this forumn is what really sold epic to me as a game, before that I sort of thought it was like the game for 40Kers who couldn't paint. Then I discovered you could make the minis look good, tried it and discovered that its probably my favourite ever game in the way it plays. Kim and I are going to have a muck around game with these armies tonight to see how they go against each other. I am thinking about bringing one of my full size armies along to show what a normal game can include. Everyone was suggesting orks to me for demo games so I started having a look through all the ork stuff that I have accumulated over the years, I have always wanted to start orks in all three scales of Warfare but haven't played a game with them yet. ?Definitely have enough around to do up a standard Ork list but not enough to feild an Orkameedies Gargant list ![]() |

I really like your guard. Did you paint them with a specific regiment in mind or are they home brewed? How'd you go about painting them too, if you don't mind me asking? |

I stole the paint scheme off of one of the very inspiring Epic websites I found right when I started getting into Epic, I think probably someone off this forumn. Paint Job is - Infantry Based with crushed gravel Undercoat black Drybrush base Codex Grey Drybrush base fortress grey Drybrush model scorched brown Drybrush model vermin brown Pick out helmet with shadow grey highlight helmet space wolf grey bedroll with catachan green highlight bedroll with 50 50 catachan and bleached bone paint face and hands with dwarf flesh paint weapons with boltgun metal paint cloak trims with bleached bone paint power weapons blue and then highlight with a blend of white flesh wash over weapons and used to shade under bedrolls across back. pick out the odd stone with a different colour on the base give a few random green and brown washes to some of the bases (very faintly) stick static grass to any spots on the base that ended up looking bad from sand falling off or paint looking wrong. Vehicles are drybrush catachan green then drybrush (or blend and edge highlight) with graveyard earth. Kim Lee and I played a muck around game tonight. ?It was her first game with the black legion list (which I know very well) so it went about as good as my first efforts with the Tau. Our Deployment ![]() I had been talking up a titan on titan battle to Kim before the game so taking up the challenge she doubled up with the feral titan and took a pot shot at my Warhound. my little attempt at a narative description of the rest of turn 1 Practiacally unscathed by the hail of fire from the rapidly advancing chaos monstrosity the mighty God Machine advanced towards the Enemy titan firing its masive bolt and plasma weapons. ?Commisar Darkon watched on as the Enemy titans shield overloaded with a deathening blast, when his vision returned from the blinding blast he saw that the God machine had damaged the enemy beast but it was far from being taken out of the battle. There was only one thing that he could do. ?Shouting out praise to the emperor he started charging towards the ememy war machine. ?He hoped he could put enough fire in the belly of the rough rider unit he had recently joined to provide enough of a distraction to let the God Machine finish off its adversary. ?As he moved to engage it in close combat firing wildly with his lassrifle he wasn't even sure his unit was still with him untill a hail of lass fire started wizzing over his head. ?He couldn't bieve his eyes when the hail of las fire actually penetrated the enemy titans visors, killing one of the piolots. ?Half a dozen men and horses were shreaded as the titans massive firepower was unleashed in return but in that instant the enemy titans fate was sealed. The Warhound opened up with a hail of suporting fire scoring another major hit on the titan. Darkon couldn't believe it they had succeeded not only to distract the enemy titan but had managed to damage it and contribute to its demise. ?As the titan fell and massive clouds of dust bellowed through the dense urban streets he moved with his men into the cover of the nearby buildings. As the men moved in to circle around Darkon and celebrate their victory they heard a faint whistle and their elation turned to terror as a frag missile fired by a distant Chaos marine unit scored a direct hit on Darkon killing the heroic Commisar that had just lead them to victory. ?Men started running and their victory suddenly turned into a rout Rough Riders Charge the Feral Titan Taking it out with one fire fight hit and one hit from the supporting fire of the Warhound ![]() Chaos Marines shoot the comisar and break the rough riders. ![]() End of Turn 1 ![]() At the start of turn 2 the bikers assaulted and took out the Warhound, despite covering fire from a nearby infantry unit. ![]() The guard caught the chaos space marine bikers in a cross fire, eventually breaking them after firing two infantry units and the sentinals at them, the sentinals managed to score a kill applying three blast markers due to the crossfire. ![]() Imperial take the victory with Break their spirit, defent the flag and they shall not pass, 3-1 ![]() Of course I will be much nicer when giving someone their first game. |

Nice little report - and although I love titans, nice to see one fall to Rough Riders. Epic! By the way - is the Rough Rider modified to a commissar somewhere in that lot? I'd like to see a close up - as well as one of the BaneLord too, please ![]() ![]() |

By the way - is the Rough Rider modified to a commissar somewhere in that lot? I'd like to see a close up - as well as one of the BaneLord too, please My version of a commissar conversion was putting a blob of greenstuff on his head in an attempt to look like a commissars hat, painting his weapon red to match my infantry commissars and putting him one miniature to the base so he would stand out. Didn't turn out that great. ![]() and many more epic images here http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v738/ ... ?start=all |
