Well... I just realised a slight flaw in my Tyranid plan.

I converted a 2nd edition Carnifex (the small version) so successfully that I realise I only have one original left. The reason I used these was because I didn't want to make them tower too much over my Tyranid Warriors.

I have 6 of the larger version which I can convert the same way, but that would give me two different scales.

Anyone used an army with different scale of the same troop? Does it work?

hmm... unfortunately the sever i'm using is down so can't show what Im doing.

I have the 2nd edition Carnifex converted to go along as heavy support for my Tyranid Warriors. The look of this is perfect as the Carnifex don't overcast the Tyranid Warriors.

Now I'm trying to do a Hive Tyrant with three converted Tyrant guards. Also as support, I'm going to have two Carnifexs.

So my problem... using the 1st edition Hive Tyrant, make bigger models of Tyrant Guards and convert the 1st edition Carnifex...

or use the 2nd edition Hive Tyrant and Carnifex, so they are relatively small, but means I can use Tyranid Warriors as a basis for the Tyrant Guards...

or mix... any thoughts?

I've got the opposite problem.  I started converting using the larger fexes, ran out and got brought 6 2nd edition off ebay, without realising that they are half the size.
