I'm trying to create a scene of dead space marines, to finish off what I wanted for my Wolves to the Slaughter project.

Does anyone have any pictures of a scene of dead space marines?

When I did Wolves to the Slaughter, I didn't have the enthusiasm to do this, but thinking of revisiting this again.

My vision is to have something as much as a CD worth of dead space marines. So just having a whole load of flat facing down Space Marines is going to be quite boring. So any ideas?

Well, in 28mm you can do a lot of things with parts of zombies/skeletons, but in 6mm that's harder!

You can try maybe some "heavy damage" with las cannons, missile launcher or bigger (titan weapons !) and put bits of marines scorched everywhere, with bloody limbs and little craters.

Or maybe something like the cover of rogue trader, a group of surrounded marines fighting at the top of bodies of fallen comrades.

I was thinking something like that as well. Since a lot of bodies would be piled up with just single limbs or areas of the body visible you could probably get away with using ragular unconverted tactical marines for at least 50% of the pile. Throw in some old sergeants, scouts or assault marines and I think you could have a decent looking pile :;):

Yeah, the old Sargent makes a good body face up or face down...used him a few times.  Throw around some loose missile launchers and lascannon, few dismembered legs...sounds like a kinda cool project really :).  Dead dudes hanging out of brewed up Rhinos, shell craters with dismembered limbs.  Torso dragging itself over to its severed legs..so many possibilities.

I used a Sgt figure as a hood ornament on a chaos rhino - like a tortured prisoner.  Gruesome but cool

Another good part is that you could probably just make a green stuff mould of the side you want to use. Saves some of those precious plastic sergeants that are so nice for conversions as well :;):

thanks for the ideas... if you've read the Wolves to the Slaughter, you'd know that its the Tyranids that killed all the Space Wolves... so I think I can still go with the torn limbs and all.

Hopefully once I get my band of Tyranids finished, I can start using some of these ideas.

Not tried molds yet, something been meaning to do.

Sigh. I have a few 'dead' beakie SMs. The old ones tended to snap off at the knees if carelessly handled, leaving behind a pair of smoking boots which could well have belonged to someone hit by a plasma cannon.  :p

Rearm, Refit, Regroup !  And come back with a Vengence !!!  And "broke at the knees SMs" (or any figs), make good AFV Cdrs !  Cut off at the waist ...

I took a tactical marine and sliced him up into six pieces, two legs, two shoulder pads and body into two... then re-assembled it face down (the front body for the bolter).  Bloody hard work.

So far I have a face down marine,

a face up seargent reaching for his sword,

a marine sprawled over a rock

a pair of still standing legs and the remaining half on the body... probably sliced in two by a Tyranid Claw...

stuck now. I got a few ideas, it just takes time re-assembling the marines in a dead/prone position :(

Lol :D Paint the borders of the remaining body in yellow so as if it is glowing :) Lascannon hits can be nasty ;)
