hi, im trying to design a convertion for the new style mars pattern similar to this fellow , now im planning on the forgeworld head legs and guns. but i need the smoother style torso with the underslung weapons instead of them attached to the side of the hull like the Sg one and the OOP model, (i hate that look on the hound, hence this idea.)
so any ideas for a part to use for the torso thats easily available?

I would suggest using the SG Warhound torso/carapace, but instead of mounting weapons directly on the side, mount some sort of bit there. Then you can mount the weapons to the underside of that bit. That should give you a look similar to that FW photo in your link.

its an option, but from what iv sen the body is far too thin. i was thinking about useing space marine dreadnought shin guards from 40k, but im unsure if these would be too large. and the would definately require heavy modifaction.

I was going to say something from the Space Marines too... not sure exactly what though. Having a look at Firestorm40ks chaos titan the chaos dreadnought legs he used look just about right form wise. However I don't own a FW warhound so I have no idea if they'll be too big. Maybe weapon turret casings from 40k tanks might work? ot sure if there's anything round enought but maybe from the archive predators? (If they're even still available)
I don't know your green stuff skills but since the body is fairly simple and rounded you just might be able to sculpt something decent looking. Green Stuff might not be perfect though: There's another product which name eludes me right now but it is easier to smooth for larger surfaces.

I own both versions of the F/W War/Hnd and that is your answer, IMO !
