Alright so here is the beginnings of my Imperial Guard army. I have a project log on Warseer to try and get some converts (nothing like adding to the number of players)
Background - they are from the homeworld of the Ultramarines. Yes the homeworlds of the Ultramarines support PDF and Guard regiments as well as the chapter. This regiment is actually part of a founding, 330 series. I am trying to decide the rest of the Macragge 33rd Corps is made up of exactly, but for units not in the 333rd will be from the Corps. This is the beginnings of the Regiment and the Corp, decided on a Mech Inf Regiment as it s what the core list is. Once the regiment is somewhat done (ha ha ha) onto an Airborne Battlegroup from one of the other regiments. I am working on unit markings, similiar to Codex Marine chapters, but we will see.

Mech and Airborne ... been there did that ! But really, I see nothing wrong with your concept. I have 6 IG Rgts and all were give designations from units I served with. 187th Air Assault, 31st and 58th Mech, 69th Armor, 197th Mech Bde plus 3d Bde- 101 and 2ID.

I have added a few post on Warseer. Gotten some progress done, finished up an infantry company and Hydras. I am considering a change to the overall list and going with 2 flights of Marauders instead of the Artillery Company and replace 2 of the Hydras with Thunderbolts (2 flights of Marauders are 50 points cheaper than the Artillery Company).
