I recently scratch built a space marine landing craft for my chapter (The Apocalypse Lords) and I thought I'd share the WIP and a couple finished shots.

This started out as a doodle while listening in to a phone conference and not really having much to contribute. The first couple of mock-ups didn't look anything like what I ended up with. However, one of the things I wanted it to do is look intimidating and appear as if it could actually carry all the vehicles inside it's body vs. how the standard LC works.

So, off we go...

Sketches

The construction

Ready to take to the table

Up to 12 infantry and 6 vehicles (rhino chassis) or 4 Landraiders...and they would all fit.  :cool:

@DS,

Well, thank you. What amuses me is the fact that the original project was supposed to produce two of these puppies (for really big games). However, as I got deeper into the construction and things got more complicated or went pear-shaped, it quickly became an exercise of "get one built before it kills you".

I rather naively got into this with the mistaken impression that all I had to do was draw the outline on the sheet plastic, etch it, and snap the pieces out, and it would then be a pretty straight forward exercise to build. In reality, the construction of the fuselage became a serious endeavor as nothing lined up the first time, gaps developed, etc.

Also, I had a deadline to get it completed before the Specialist Con in Memphis (October), so as the struggle continued, I had to face the facts that there wasn't going to be enough time to make two.

However, the exercise was not in vain as I am really happy with how it turned out, it wasn't "that" difficult to build (relatively speaking), I've had a lot of fun playing with it in my games, and at some point, I will use what I learned to construct a 40K Thunderhawk for my chapter.

Thanx again!

Ask and ye shall receive...

This was the force that I used in the Memphis Specialist CON tournament.

Btw, the red Dreadnought with my terminators is my Supreme Commander stand. I don't stick dreads with termies for obvious reasons...
