I get a lot of blank stares when I talk to people about converting and assembling epic. ?One guy refused to play any game where you could lose the pieces in your hair (yeah, that didn't make sense but he thought it was funny).

What do you guys see as the norm for putting together epic figs?

Thanks,

TrademasterAdam

I *did* convert a multi-part Marine. (Gave him a heavy bolter instead of a bolt gun).

Well everone of my marines (Deathwatch and sister don't count) are converted.  True that is only 17 models so far.  But when the rest arrive I'm planning on converting as many as possible, without going insane.

I'm building up some more Exodites and the Dragoon conversions are 5 seperate pieces....and were originally going to be 7 until some semblance of common sense prevailed.  There probably wont be a single stand in the army that wont have had some form of conversion :)

I Wish epic marines were all multi part, then foolish people would stop using them as pillers in other games!......ok maby not, but it would give us a lot more to talk about......"Hey I just made a marine squad in a pose that looks like 5 guys in a marching line salluting to Hitler!"....... (see what I mean ;=) ?).

When it comes to converting 6mm infantry, the bravest I've got is a few weapon swaps.  I did a kneeling Marine for an objective, and that was enough of a nightmare... ???

Byt when it comes to vehicles/warmachines, I'd say anything goes.  Says he who scratch-built a Banelord Titan

I'm FAR too lazy to even assemble a multi part marine but I did attempt to convert the bolter of my Chapter Master to Bolter/Meltagun.

Most of what I do is weapon swops but the only reason I've not converted a multi-part is I can't afford any.  :(

The only conversion I could see myself doing for infantry is putting assault cannons on Termies. Anything more complex than that, forget it.  :p

I've made some pretty weird conversions with DRM Andrayadas turning into Necron Pariahs, Detroyers, etc., along with converting Warmaster figurines into the two C'tan units.

Also did Harlequin jetbikes with them holding sabres and Raiders with holofield generators.  My best conversion is probably the Avatar of the Laughing God for the Eldar Harlequins, though.  I started with a Bloody-Handed God Avatar and did some moderate tweaking to get a good result.

Converting is my favourite part opf the hobby, but converting Epic infantry is limited to the following exceptions:
- the miniatures are not available at all (like Necrons)
- the conversion is a must because the unit is different in some way (like AM Skitarii compared to ordinary guard infantry)
- because I want a special unit that stands out and I can show off (like commanders)

I am a quantity sort of person these days... I do do a few character conversions though, eg the other day was commissars chopped in half so they hang out of Vanquisher turrets. I have given weapon swaps to some characters too. However, my general policy is to avoid such madness whenever possible :)
