Hi guys

Following the Death Korps of Krieg army list discussion I felt inspired to do a bit of modelling.

I wanted to do some kind of an armoured Zeppelin-kindda-airship-thingy. So I was wondering if anyone know of a manufacturer who sells airships. Preferably ones that are about 10-15 cm. long (although even 20 cm might work!) which I can convert.

Maquette, a Russian model making firm make a R-100 zeppelin type thing, it's in 1/500th scale, so I have no idea on size unfortunately :( .

Hannants are one of the biggest model kit wholesalers in the UK, so you might get some luck with them. There website is www.hannants.co.uk

7-8 cm is a bit on the small side I'm afraid. Doing a bit of research the R.100 is supposed to be about 700 feet long so at 1:500 scale this would be something like 40 cm which, although leaving lots of space for detailing, would be pretty frigging huge for Epic scale :D Nice model though.

Hmmm.. Aparently Revell also produces a 1:720 version as seen here:

At 24 cm this one is a pretty good size.

However it is no longer available from their online store. If aybody would happen to drop by a seller who has them let me know :;):

edit: Found one on Ebay but unfortunately that's a US only auction :( $10 would have been a good price though...

I'd be more than happy to be your US agent in this matter, if you need it.

I really like the gondola but I still thik it may be a bit too small. The more I think about it the more I begin to like the idea if a really really big airship. It definitely gives more conversion oportunity :;):

What about this?

Larger scale but since it is for a conversion....

They did have a model of the Hindenberg a while back but no sign now.

Cool idea though...can't wait to see the result.

VERY nice WMN. And the Aeronef digs are a bit small - I own the largest, and it's around 7cm long.

The Aeronef models are definitely a great source of inspiration for a project like this. I just thought I wanted to do something even bigger. ... but of course i have to actually get the Hindenburg kit before I can do anything about this at all :p
