I know I'm in the minority, but I tend to base vehicles only when needed, like for bikes, trikes, war walkers, etc. |

Yeah, basing standard vehicles (rather than Dreadnoughts etc) is still relatively rare, and relatively new. |

Yeah, exactly as IJW Wartrader says. A bit tangent of that, but i have been wondering for a long time why basing vehicles is something recent and why it has been increasing with the time. Could it be related that we got influenced by the official magazines where it was not based and now as the years since the last one got published are increasing that influence is waning? I asked around in the few clubs i know were most base their tanks and did not get an answer or clues to that so the mystery continues. |

I found vehicle basing was fairly common in historical wargaming, anything smaller than 10mm you seem to see more of it than not. I went with what was originally the 'official' way of basing in Epic; Infantry, small bikes/trikes and dreadnoughts/robots on bases, anything larger than that no bases. But, I can definitely see the advantage to basing especially for the smaller vehicles, and does allow a lot more display/vignette possibilities. |

Can I ask what size hex bases you're using for infantry etc. I've just started painting/modelling some marines and eldar I purchased off the bay many moons ago and frankly I don't like the square bases they've come with.
