Hi guys,

It's been quite a while since I last built an Epic army. The last one I did was Speed Freeks, and before that Nids. To my shame I never even got around to painting any of those! That was around ten years ago IIRC, back when the kids came along.

So here we are, the kids are older and interested in Epic! As well as 40k second ed and Age of Sigmar. Oh, and Gaslands and Frostgrave. My first army I ever had for 40k was Eldar, so I'm returning to my roots with an E:A force.

Here's my progress so far. I'm using 100% Contrast Paints which are giving them really bold colours. Some of the miniatures are EBay rescues where the paint was laid on quite thick to start of with.

I've got two Guardian formations with Wave Serpents and also a Falcon formation to work on next.

I've been making some progress on the Wave Serpents - Vanguard Miniatures proxies.

These are painted totally in GW's Contrast Paints. They're working quite well, especially for the yellow.

Yes I'll be basing. I'm using the original Epic square bases with pins in to allow the Serpents to hover.

That's the Wave Serpents kinda done. I'm tempted to go over with some edge-highlighting, but I'll see. Maybe once I've finished all my armour.

I've made a start on my Falcons, going for a slightly different scheme to ensure they're visibly a different unit-type from the Serpents on the table.

Here's a comparison shot. The Wave Serpent is a test miniature showing edge highlighting.
