I've never been impressed with NMM as a technique. Even the excellent stuff looks weird if you're not looking at it just right with the light.

Highlighting in the same areas with metallic paints turns out pretty good though.

I think they look really good! Certainly in the photos.

Excellent job with the chequer-work as well, that's exceptionally neat.

So I've done some touchups and added a glyph to Slasherton slashface the third, I've got to add some weather powder to his feet but I'm going to do that at basing time, so for the time being I'm calling him done

I've now started on his older, fatter and rustier big brother, who it seems, is going to take an absolute age to finish, but so far is providing great enjoyment for mucking about with some of GW's technical paints (namely Typhus Corrosion, Ryza Rust and Nihilakh Oxide) which are actually great; so great in fact, that in my excitement to proclaim their greatness to the world, with my big dumb fat hands I managed to spill most of the typhus corrosion all over my painting table.... joy

and from the other angle:

I've had the brushes out again.....

A while ago I did a trade with Silverbandit and part of it was a mekboy gargant, when I opened the package I could see it had been very neatly basecoated in a classic scheme, it seemed a shame to replace that effort (if it was you Silverbandit, nice job!) so I decided to work with it and test out a more modern, gritty scheme on top to try and match my other gargants, for some reason I decided to try it on the front panel (probably as it has all the nice details and flat panels) and I ended up with this, which I'm pretty pleased with

Image

Then because I can't focus on a single thing at once at the moment, I decided to start on my second bad moons gargant..... lots and lots of drybrush layering later, I was staring at this (slasha included to compare paint schemes and yellows) needs a LOAD more work doing

Image

still a long road but eventually I'll have them all done, hell the OGBM list might even be approved by then.....

Looks like that gargant is benefiting from support that lifts AND separates...

what's a big fat gargant without a head and some rust streaks eh?

I'm currently sick with a cold so zero progress this week, hoping to get back on it in a few days time when picking up something as heavy as a paintbrush doesn't make me break out in a full sweat ;)
