Post subject:  How to make an Epic 40k Ork Battle Wagon look like a M2 BW

Ok its been some time since I have posted a conversion, but I wanted to update My Ork Battle wagons
and I wanted to do it with common epic parts so I could make a lot of them and it would not be costly. This may turn into a tutorial ,
as I have taken photos in progress of making it. and I will describe in some detail how I did it. so you can make one to if you feel ambitious or are a fan of converting 6mm mini's :D and you to would want to make a M2 Ork Battle Wagon.
Thanks for taking a look. hope you like it!

Thank you for the comments I am glad you like is it was fun and easy to make (he lied ) ;D it is a bit of a challenge as some of the parts are a bit fiddly! so good tweezers are good to have in this conversion and there will be a lot of filing to make parts fit. so you are going to want good hobby file kit.

So what's going on in this photo? well good question! it was a photo I took of 2 alt battle wagon's I made with leftover parts I cut from other vehicles. once I start posting the tutorial it will be more obvious. I tent to keep small pill cases and or clear card holders to put all the good bit I cut off of my mini's as they may come in handy later, I literally made 2 BW out of the scraps for the updated BW.
I will post more soon! thank you.

Ok lets start this Ork Battle Wagon Mk2 ,Tutorial !
Ok The Photos Ep1 and Ep2 show basically what you need to do this conversion, but you can substitute most of
the finishing elements like I was going to use the Ork gunner from the old plastic warbuggies
but went with a ork heavy weapon infantry cut him at the stomach so he looks as if he is in a turret hatch.
Oh and Plasticard you will need some various thickness sheets for this one I use scraps of plasticard.

So I used the treads from the 2nd ed ork weird boyz tower. there are a lot of treads that will work for this like the
plastic 2nd ed ork battle wagon would be fine but that will a hobby saw and a lot of patients and filing to get it to work.
ok here is where I am sorry I am using the back loading breach of a ork 40k weapon and I forgot what its from! :(
it maybe the back half of the gun from the plastic 40k ork battle wagon, the peace was cut of along time ago and it was
sitting in my bitz box of ork parts of things! if any one know what it is feel free rain in with what it is! :D
next 3 photos Ill be going over how to cut and file parts to fit together. Ok more soon!

Ok and I m back for the next step. see cut marks.jpg for cut location .
So first in this part I cut up a ork traktor kannon to make the Cab chassis.
see the 4 step part for cutting instructions

also cut 2 ork battle wagons up as show in cut marks.jpg the front ram will be used later and the
section with the turret will become part of the back of the BW.

ok here is a 4 step part to make the Cab chassis.
for this you will need two of the traktor kannons.
use a fine hobby saw to cut up between the big wheel and the small wheel about 3mm
then cut at about a 45 degree angle away from the gun shield in about 3mm, also cut the gun
off flush to the gun shield. what I am doing is cutting from all sides trying to leave a
nub for locking it to the other side, (you don't have to do this but it will add strength to the cab.

step#2 file the nub till it looks like a rooftop so that it will fit nicely into the other side.
enlarge the Mix.jpg to see how it should look. also note in this photo the other part is the second traktor
is cut so the canisters are still attached.

step#3 notice the roof shaped pitch of the nub, I cut the same shape in reverse in the other side using
an x-acto blade. I tend to use a #10 blade the curved blade but an #11 will do just fine.

step #4 if done carefully they should fit snug, (I did have to file down parts till it was a good fit.)
so is you cut to much green stuff can be used to fill the gaps. and there is the bottom of the cab

and that's it for now. next up I will post is how to make the treads and chassis :D

Awesome idea with the traktor kannons. I'm totally going to steal that... :D
thanks for the tutorial.

Post subject:  Re: How to make an Epic 40k Ork Battle Wagon look like a M2

Ok on to the next step.
So the Treads that I am using from the ork weirdboy tower have tabs on the inside of the tread used for attaching to
the weird boy tower, this is what I attach the plasticard flatbed of the Battle Wagon, I set the treads so they
are just a bit wider wheel base then the cab wheels. I know on the 40k BW the treads are level with the wheels but
with epic I find exaggerating is a good idea.

Now I take the ram I cut from the 1st Ed BW and cut it up for the teeth of this BW ram, see photo BW4.jpg for cut
location of ram spikes. I filed the skull shape off the ram completely and clean it up so it matches the other teeth.
photo BW6.jpg is easier to see how it goes together.

For the roof of the cab I take a scrap of PVA board that's about 4mm high then I take the traktor Kannon back plate with
small wheels still attached that was cut from the earlier steps, will need some filing down to fit flush and straiten up the top.
also I put small piecesof plasticard under the plate making it look more like the BW window of the
40k version.

Last part of this step is cut and file the newly constructed cab, note the Asymmetrical shape of the cab in photo BW6.jpg
there's also a slight bevel next to the top part next to the window opening, I also recommend finding a good high res photo
of the 40k ork Battle Wagon for better reference.

that's it for now more to come later. :D
