Hi Folks - I'm hoping to plumb the depths of the accumulated knowledge on here. I'm currently planning a suez style set of canal sections for my desert terrain collection. Nothing as wide as the Suez, of course, but something too straight to be natural that would also explain the presence of a linear water feature in the middle of the desert. I'm also thinking it'll give me the chance to build a Marina/docks area. To make it look more convincing as an industrial rather than natural feature I'll need some watercraft of some sort - barges, boats etc. I can't seem to find much that's about the right size and appropriately sci fi or grimdark. Any suggestions anyone? ![]() |

I had a similar idea. I'd been looking at the dystopian wars stuff - the Germans I think. |

http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/6mmSF/Boats.html Only two types and a little pricey but they look nice in the photos. |

Those are nice little boats, would work nicely for some sort of naval base. Similarly the dw stuff is smashing, but might scale a little oddly, especially with door, window & hatch sizes. I guess what I'm really after is something more civilian and less military. Might have to get creative and knit my own. |

Old Crow do some, I think he's still selling stuff if you email with an order. The archive page shows what's available. http://web.archive.org/web/201201301932 ... erside.htm |

There's a load of really nice 1/350 scale harbor stuff for model ship builders. The WW2 style industrial stuff should work really well. Also i imagine some of the Spartan games Uncharted Seas and Dystopian WArs terrain bits would look great. |

Not directly related, but Google Image searches of the All-American Canal in Colorado could come in handy for inspiration. |

Thanks folks - that old crow stuff could well save a bit of time. The canal is exactly what I was thinking of. Clearly man-made but not as massive as some. Easy to model, especially as water level=ground level. |

On the slightly larger end of the scale, GHQ has some fairly nice 1:285 water craft in their Viet Nam section. |

http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk They used have a lot of sci-fi boats and terrain. Might be worth an e-mail despite the 3 year old homepage. |
