Attachment: Got some colour on my Stygian Jetbikes. The colour scheme is adapted from my old 40k DE army I sold back in 2013. There are a few points I would like to open for discussion: 1. Engine glow at the prow - really necessary? Looks good, or rather crappy? 2. Bases: At the moment I tend to give them a nice blue painting, slightly like the combined army bases from Infinity. I guess it would contrast neatly with the dark red of the units. I am open for other ideas anyway ![]() 3. Crystals: Either dark Red, alike the units OR blue, to merge slightly more with the blue bases. Here the Jetbikes: Attachment: Attachment: Your ideas and comments, either here or on my blog would be very welcome indeed. Cheers, and nice Sunday to everyone. |

I like the glow, personally. You'd need to keep up with it across the army, if you use it, however. Perhaps a green tinge to the glow to emphasise their poisonous/eldritch nature? I also like the bases - you can't match every table you might play on, so match none! As for the gems - go for whatever your taste prefers. It's your army, eyesight & sanity after all. |

@ lordlucan: definitely true. In the beginnings I painted up every army with brown bases to match my own table.... especially my Death Corps. Now I have to admit, that sucks. Looks boring and you need to paint with strong contrast to make the tiny little soldiers visible on the larger bases. |

I really like the scheme as is. It may get tedious when painting up a full army though, but if you have the patience to see it through, then it will be an impressive sight indeed when finished. Im thinking maybe a grey ash type base with blue crystals...? Id say green but that always reminds me of necrons.... Maybe do a few test bases in different schemes before committing yourself? |

Well... the crystals I got are made from green acrylic stuff, however I'd prefer painting them in different colour. It really looks slightly necron-ish and I do not like traffic light colour schemes (red, yellow, green). Perhaps purple-toned blue could be cool as well. For the base: I tried grey already before I put some more sand paste on the base and priming it black again. It always feels a bit "unpainted" in the end. I would rather tend for some colour and keep the grey scale colours for 10-28mm miniatures. I have some bases Left, so I might pick up your idea and do some test bases ![]() |

I think mine were from Anarchy models, ordered via waiting-for-stock-wayland games. Took centuries to get shipped but the price was ok imo. |

I like them. Are these the exact stygian jetbikes from Onslaught because the pictures I have seen on websites are different. Oh, and keep the engine flare, I've done similar on my Eldar, but in blue/white because the good pointy ears care about the environment. D. |

Miniatures and paint job are great , how do they size up next to a regular elder jet bike ? I hear the onslaught miniatures run really small compared to some of the other epic stuff. |

Post subject: | Re: Stygian Jetbikes - testscheme |
The overall size is totally fine. The models are more true scale I think. The jetbikes are the same size as ordinary epic jetbikes, though I did not use the prow/wing section that is originally attached to the jetbikes. That way the model gets smaller, though I still like the proportions, as they seem to be more realistic. That aside some updates: Here is my first painted DE Razorwing jetfighter, converted from some 40k jetbike parts and the above mentioned Jetbike prow from Onslaught. Attachment: a comparison to my former 40k Dark Eldar model is as usual on my blog. Cheerio ![]() |
