Post subject:  Onslaught Minis - Metal or Plastic?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if Onslaught minis are produced in metal, resin or plastic.

I love the look of the Stygians for Dark Eldar and have the following in mind:

Hunters Warriors
Phantoms Incubi
Butchers Mandrakes
Carvers Haemonculi
Gargoyles Scourges
...? Hellions
Slayers Wyches
Ghast Reavers
Revenants Ravagers
Phantom Raiders
Parasite Talos

No problem. I have no stuff from onslaught yet, but Ive heard great things about them, and what Ive seen on them they are superb! I'm looking forward to seeing all the DE armies appearing on these boards over the next year!

I wish I could agree with that. The models and sculpting are great, so nothing against Deacon, it's just that their casting isn't the best. There were mold lines on nearly every Stygian model I got, and cleaning 6mm infantry is painful and time consuming.

Just something to be aware of. If you're OK with just sticking models on their base without any cleaning then you'll be fine.

Thanks for your honest input Dave. Any links to pics would be much appreciated.

Think where 6mm is concerned I'm less inclined to worry about mould lines too much.

I made a large order and had no issues whatsoever with mould lines, apart from Khronos' hand sculpted stuff their the best 6mm infantry I've had

IDK, the only people that I've not had to spend serious time cleaning up infantry with has been the C&C Solar Empire Marines and of course, the Campari drinking figures from Khronos. seems pretty much par course to me. Nothing worse than spending all that time on a wonderful model and then finding a line on it once it is painted

Hey guys! Yes all of our models are metal - and yes there will be cleaning involved. We try to keep the mold lines down, but its a sucky inevitability of the casting process.

Thanks for the kind words!

I got my dark eldar proxies from a well known forumite in resin (not Onslaught). Complete junk and a waste of money and time. They were about as solid as toast - no joke, I really mean that. Cleaning the extensive mold lines broke over 50% of the models.

I have recently received a large order of Stygians from Onslaught.
Good quality metal and really good detail. The mould lines aren't that bad except for the wych infantry.
I'd recommend them personally.

I am wondering how to make Hellions and how to represent the Slave Bringer Assault Barge though?
Might have to buy a box of 28mm scale reaver jet bikes to use as the core modelling bits?
Thinking warmaster chaos hounds as proxies for the warp beasts!

I used the Succubus for the Warp Beasts.

if you have plastic chaos flesh hounds from the EA chaos horde box they make nice warp hounds, just cut the neck frill off.
