I got back into Epic over the last year or so after a long break and am a bit gutted to have missed some lovely looking fan made miniatures. The small amount I have managed to get hold of just make me even more sad that they are no longer produced. Anyway, inspired by some of these I decided to try my hand at doing my own Spartan.
It's a very simple conversion, I'd be surprised if I was the first to do it but here we go.
Parts list: 2x orignal plastic Landraiders 1x later style plastic Landraider plasticard hatch from Leman Russ
Take two original plastic Landraiders, chop the front off one and the back off another and stick together. I used a modelling saw. Chop just the front armour section out of the mk2 plastic 'Raider and stick it over the front of the cut and shut Landraider. I put a small rectangle of plasticard on the top armour, just behind the piece of mk2 'Raider and plonked a hatch on to give it some character.
Obviously they fall a long way short of a proper version but I was quite pleased with how a squadron of them looked together. The joins on mine are not great either but you get the idea.

I also doubled up the las-cannons and trimmed off some of the smoke launchers

Thanks for the encouragement folks. Legion 4, they are lovely. Proper retro Spartans, reminds me of the WD article on how to make one for 40k.

Yes, I got the idea from that old WD article ... That was like issue 116 or abouts ! Your conversion is very, very good !
