Hey guys! Some of you may have seen my battle reports lately where I've taken to using Paintbrush to add text and arrows to the pictures to explain what is going on.

I want to start making a couple of "showcase" level battle reports as part of the effort described in my Keeping Epic Alive thread. But I need to use something a little nicer than paintbrush to do this. I don't intend to do anything crazy - I just want to be able to create diagonally pointing arrows and decent indicators, etc.

Any ideas?

I've been looking at doing something similar, but not necessarily for the same version of Epic, or even Epic at all right now. Maybe we can help each other with ideas and resources. I tried a live version with a pointer, which did not work well. I think that there are plenty of graphical things that can easily be created in editing if you're interested in some help with that.

Oh!!! Excellent idea!!! I do have Powerpoint, and in fact I used it fairly regularly to make business presentations. Yes, that could work very nicely. I'll play around with it. Thanks for the idea!

Elsemore, I downloaded GIMP at your suggestion. I've heard of it before, and I'm aware that it's kind of an open-source Photoshop, right? It seems awfully robust for a novice such as myself. I can't even figure out how to make arrows and write text in the thing without creating all these layers and stuff. Is it easier than I think?

Powerpoint seems far more suitable to your needs than gimp, I would say. Probably the best option out there.

Well If you really want to go professional get a copy of Adobe Premiere and AfterEffects and do whatever you wanna do out of pics and videos and create something splendid. If you go for CS5 or 6 it shouldn't even be that expensive anymore as Adobe switched completely to creative loud some time ago.

Even though you might wanna stick to photo based reports, it is a great way to add some interactivity to static photos and to go for some music as well. Never the less it is quite time consuming...

Best,e

Are there any videos tutorials on how to create battle reports using Power Point.

I use Power Point a lot at work but for the life of me I cannot imagine how to make a report from it.

Thanks
