I'm going to take on a Salamanders' list, they have a couple of units (Salamander Devastators/Terminators) which have unique weapons. Does anyone have suggestions of how to model these? Devs need a multi melta, the Termies, thunder hammers/storm shield. My thoughts at the moment involve a lot of fiddly work with plasticard and green stuff. I know their are minis available, but these are beyond my hobby pocket.

I'd just leave them as standard models, I'm not hugely familiar with the salamanders list but if it has two variants of a particular unit, a different paintjob to differentiate them in games would more than suffice, if you want to model them up then good luck!

I have a plan. The multi melta - start with standard missile launcher, cut the front/back/most of the top off, leaving a rectangle with a small fin on top. Then attach two pieces of plasticard rod, one on top of the other, to form the gun barrels.

Thunder hammers - plasticard rod for the handle, square of plasticard for the head.

Storm shield - plasticard cut to shape of shield, layer of Agrellan Earth (to get crackle effect), painted as volcanic earth or lizard skin.

If anyone's tried similar, I would love to hear about/see results.
