Here's a puzzle. Does anyone know of NetEA support for Star Wars? I'm talking about army lists, miniatures, etc.

In terms of miniatures support, the X-wing minis game is obviously a great place to start for epic-scale gaming. In addition, there are plenty of custom and third party minis which are incredible and in scale for the game. Just about everything you could want are covered in one way or another. So that covers spacecraft. Shapeways has some nice turbolaser towers (actually, several).

For ground forces, there are lots of minis, but rarely are they in any particular scale. However, there are several toys you can get to get you most of the way.

Rebel troops can easily be proxied. But stormtroopers have me completely stumped. Yeah, I know, I could use space marines, but it just doesn't look the same. I figure you'd need Stormtroopers, Scout troopers, officers, and speeder bikes.

Has anyone tried this yet? And let's not forget that we'd have to have an (unofficial) list.

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum... couldn't really find an appropriate one.)

That thread is made of win-- thanks! I'll check out the leads on stormtroopers. :)

Now that GW has cancelled SG, is there any reason for us to be such setting purists? Would people's heads explode if there was an Imperial Stormtroopers list?

It's worth pointing out that FFG's star wars: X-wing miniatures game is PERFECT for this project. Including a Lambda shuttle with working wings and a YT-1300 transport (Millennium Falcon). FFG has just about everything from the original trilogy, and gamers on Shapeways have a vast array of EU ships that aren't likely to see print in the FFG game, including the E-wing, K-Wing, Assault Gunboat, TIE Advanced and Defender, etc. If you're looking to do this, Target still has a few starter sets deeply discounted.

Most recently, an Assault Gunboat with folding wings: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/einargosric?sort=newest (Einar has already posted this link widely and pulls any minis that FFG announces or releases.) I own several of these in FUD and can attest to their quality, accuracy, and durability. They're fantastic. I'd call them comparable to FFG's minis in quality, and I like that he makes sure not to challenge or compete with them (they're a good business and deserve to be supported).

Regarding Space Troopers (stormtroopers in heavy power armor used in zero gravity boarding actions), the best option IMO is a proxy: Brigade Models' 6mm power armor (http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/6mmSF/Infantry/SF300-5003.html) They don't look much like the canon armor, but the canon armor doesn't look very good, to be honest. A few more canonical takes are available from other vendors if you're going that route.
