Hi all, brand new to the forums, thought I'd stop by and post some pics of my just-started epic scale space marines, since I've been browsing this site for inspiration over the last few weeks. I don't actually plan on using these for Epic, sorry, not really sure what I'll do with them, though 6mm scale 40k is tempting. Mainly, I just really wanted to paint some tinymans, and they were every bit as fun as I hoped. Such a nice change from 28mm stuff.
Anyway, so far all I've done is a base of veterans with combat shields and a rhino. I have some whirlwinds and a tactical squad on the table awaiting paint soon though.
Let me know what you think, I always appreciate feedback :)

Nice work and great characterful conversions! Excited to see more, I'll be checking for ideas I can pinch for my own fists

Thanks for the comments guys :) I finished up another base tonight, just a boring tactical squad with plasma/missile. Not really game to do too much converting yet, been sticking with easy stuff with the veteran shields. I need to work out how to do some heavy bolters for my devastator squads.
I must say, there is something really satisfying about sitting down for an hour and half and finishing with a whole squad done. Good fun.

They are very nice!
Not using them for Epic is… blasphemy! Somebody call the Inquisition!

Speaking of the Inquisition, I was looking at the plastic scouts and thinking they might make good bases for some grey knights... replace the head, add pauldrons, resculpt the lower legs, little work to the backpack and gun...

Anyway, finished a Whirlwind to add some artillery support to my slowly growing 5th company.
Bloggity.

Little sloppy, but it'll do.

Great freehand! My only suggestion would be to use white or orange for the alternating colors on the hazard stripes. I also have found that charcoal works better than black on stripes.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out on my next whirlwind :)

Just a super small update tonight - I've been boxing stuff up the last day and a half to prepare for moving. Tonight I based some more epic dudes though.

Blog

Force now stands at:
1 HQ
2 Elites
2 Troops
3 Heavy Support

Eventually plan to finish the entire 5th company, as well as a sizeable 1st company contingent (50-60 marines).

Hi.

Great work, but is it me or have you managed to move the heads of the MK1 tac marines so they are looking to the left ?

I thought they were lead marines at first, but th're larger scale...

Thanks, and yeah, I've changed some of the models' head position - makes a big difference between marines staring straight ahead vs marines actually looking where they're pointing they're guns. Easy to do too.

Love the look of the larger squads! Let us know what game you end up using them for--very cool stuff!

Not much to say with this update, just some more finished. Almost finished. I got a bit sloppy and forgot a few bits, like the rhino headlights, and I need to touch up a few things. But I'm happy to be getting things painted fairly quickly.

Sorry for being so slack in updating, unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to show, been painting some Infinity over the last week mainly. I did knock out a base of terminators tonight, but I'm not super happy with them. Actually they're pretty rubbish, so there's just one pic until I fix them and finish their Landraider.
