Hello. I recently ventured into the 6 mm gaming battlefield, having wanted to try out the game for a long time. My main hobby force/relaxing power lies in the converting side of the hobby, so what more appropriate than trying to scratch build something right away. My first force is SM, the same chapter as I have in 40K - where I always use Drop pods, so that would be the first try of building something in 6mm scale. After finding the right shape, and materials I have now started adding some detail to the basics. The first step was changing the shape a bit and add some wider bits - stabilizers I think they are? I have also been trying to add a fin - tested on the old piece - will have to be level with the edge though, and I'm not sure how much it really adds to the model. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks great, neat work. Though why only 4 vanes? to make it castable? |

Thanks guys. It's made with four vanes simply to make it easier to construct - two profiles slided together ![]() |

Cheers. Last detail added to the pods, a little GS work to do around the edges, and perhaps some contour or a symbol on the doors. ![]() |

Cool stuff. How many will you make? |

Thanks guys. I was planning on the same "rate" as for rhinos - so three for a tac-squad. POssibly around 10 in all. But when I glanced at my desk this morning I saw it next to the warhounds, and I'm a bit afraid it might be too large - well I'd try to make a comp photo later. |

I guess it is a bit out of scale, not too much - but just enough. Not sure I can match the detail level if I make it smaller, and not sure if I wan to go down that road. ![]() |

You could make it appear smaller by reducing the height of the vanes where they exceed the top of the pod. They currently stick out too high compared to the 40k scale model, which makes it look very tall and large next to that warhound. Also remember, however, that most titans in epic are under scale, so the small warhound is making the pod look big in that context. Details looks good. |

1. That drop pod is cool as crap. well done 2. Epic minis are NOT TO SCALE. Just expunge that idea right now. Therein is the path of madness (go search out the true scale Imperator titan project on the boards for what I mean ![]() 3. Drop pods in EA (provided you are playing that vs another addition) are especially not true-scale nor even WYSIWYG but are 100% "representational" of an area littered with drop pods. It's simply a 3d token or marker in reality. 4. Have I said that drop pod is cool as crap? ![]() |

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I see my version is a bit tall, but several people have pointed out nothing is really to scale in EA. My plan was to come up with something I could use not only as a marker, but to make enough to actually litter the landing site with them. Anyway, I think I'll make the next one slightly lover, by reducing the vanes with a couple of mm. |
