I'm actually starting to get some armies together to paint and I'm in a quandary about basing. So I'm looking for peoples opinion on basing miniatures: round, square, oblong? sizes?

I was thinking Imperial Guard suit more regimented oblong bases, Chaos/cultists & 'Nids more random round bases, and Marines oblong/square?

Any thoughts most welcome :)

I think these are lovely bases and I'm entirely unbiased!

I have to agree, regimented looks good on certain armies. Having said that, I've got Orks and Guard on 40x10s and everything else on round. I generally prefer the round bases.

Yeah, it's all a matter of personal preference. I've got too much stuff on square bases to go back now but if I could start over again I'd probably make some similar choices to those you've outlined.

Hope the project goes well!

I have round for orkses, oblong for IG and hex for my cultists. Eldar are currently on oblong, but I'd like to change that if I stumbled upon spare time somehow
