So Ive not posted much on the forums recently. Some of my proxy projects stalled (for various reasons) and I felt guilty about letting folks down. But such is life, Ive got my 'den' into a usable state and have decided I want to start making some epic armies (hah - isnt my timing awesome...). Ive got a ton of really nice stuff to work on but I thought Id start with something simple and old school so I can get back into things. So Ive dug out my old 2nd ed plastics and repurposed them as, Iron Warriors ![]() Ill do fliers and titans later, but for now this should be a good starter force for me. Here's hoping I keep the momentum going and actually finish a damn project! |

Impressive start, the ordinatus conversion looks interesting. I've moved this to the 6mm forum, as that seems best suited. If you have a specific reason why it should be in the sculpting sub-forum, let me or another mod know and topic can be moved back.

More Iron Warriors... Love it! ![]() Can we see a better photo of the Ordinatus? Will you be able to play test the new Iron Warriors list? Keep the photos coming! |

oops - created it in the sculpting forum out of habit (thats where all the good stuff happens!), thanks for moving. Yeh, more pics to follow. Thats just a quick shot of my first big batch after spraying with an old can of halfords chrome paint I had laying around ![]() As for testing the list, I dont know I'll ever get to play a game with them but we'll see. Im living in Peterborough now and need to find some folks that play. |

Not all the good things, I hope. Surely painting is at least a tiny part of the goodness? Any close up shots? |

Here's a few samples to test out my colour scheme. Im trying to keep it simple - hence only sprayed chrome, black wash and a few bits picked out in black. I like how the black wash tones down the chrome but it does look pretty monochrome! (even with the greenery)... ![]() I guess adding some hazard stripes would give them some pop - besides, how can they be iron warriors if they arent covered in hazard stripes! i'll post some more close ups after Ive finished washing and basing a few more |

Cool. Are you going to handpaint the hazard stripes? Many here seem to use transfers. |

Good to see you back and with the Iron Warriors coming on well Their colourscheme is simple, but effective and they look great based up. You should be able to get them all up to that point in not too long and you can always add a bit more detail afterwards if you choose. If you have a decent high resolution printer you could print transfers at appropriate sizes for the vehicles. I forget where Peterborough is but perhaps check-out if there are any Epic-UK tournaments near you that you could go to play? They're welcoming to new players. Otherwise try painting up a second army and talking some 40k players into trying it. You could try posting up messages asking for opponents on nearby gaming club forums too. |

Good ideas about the stripes. I was gunna hand paint the stripes but i do happen to have a laser printer and some decal paper Ive never used... time to bust out illustrator and have a play! |

Oh yeh, I do have one question after reading through the iron warriors list - whats a daemonic artillery meant to look like? I don't remember an epic mini with that name and cant see anything in 40k that might match up. |

Hey, I like it ! Reminds me of my painting blitz on my marines 15 odd years ago - Spray em black > dry brush them blue-grey > pick out the metallics > shoulder pads. About 8000 EA points (as they are now) in about a month. Going back now to tidy them up a few at a time, but they still look good on mass due to simplicity. |

Wow that's fast. I realise you're keeping it simple, but even so. Keep it up

I'll try my best! ![]() I didnt realise quite how much there is until I laid it out last night for the photo! Should be more than enough land forces for any games I (ever) play. Just titans, aircraft and spacecraft to do after and Im done. |
