Ok... I'm working on my Tyranids at the mo, decided to do a few extra SM Blood Angels to help out Commander Dante...

thinking about other stuff too, but hopefuly not get into it just yet,

thinking about IG colour schemes? I'm sick of the boring camoflage and grey scheme, too many people do that.

Previously eons ago, I did a few IG troops in blue as they became sorta the support IG for my Ultramarines, so I thought I'd paint the IG all blue to meld in with the SM.

So has anyone painted IG that aren't the standad camoflage greens/dessrt and greys?

Ive always wanted to do some IG in a blue like the French Army wore in WW1 with leather colour webbing/equipment

I think that would be very effective, while retaining the Imperial type theme

The 14th Fennican Division has an unusual color scheme: the uniforms of troopers depend on their service branch.

Infantry & Cavalry : purple.
Mech Infantry: green.
Heavy Mech Infantry: black.

Reason for this is that WAY back, in the time of 1st edition Space Marine, when I had purchased my first IG box I only had two colors suitable for uniforms. I didn't want grey uniforms so I chose purple. Later I wanted some change and when I painted my mechanised company I painted the uniforms green and invented the "color coding" to justify the existence of different uniform colors in the same regiment.

The tanks OTOH still use the good ol' camo system. When I have time I'll re-paint my armor to the camo Finnish army used in WWII. See here for an example: http://www.andreaslarka.net/ps531008/ps531008.html

i suppose if you used the french 19th century look you could paint stormtroopers as zouaves with lovely red trousers....?

He also painted his 28mm models the same scheme.

I've never done any of my minis in camo, kind of for the same reason: everyone does it and it's boring to me. I got my inspiration from SM2, specifically the Armies of the Imperium book. Look at the pages in the center for ideas.

Very nice.

Although I am a sucker for good camo patterns it is always nice to see IG done differently. Especially if a historically realistic colour scheme.

Cheers

Hi!

I painted most of my stuff inspired by those pictures.  :)
