I'm building a sorta a Hive Queen for the Tyranids (ass seen on my sneak peak previously).

I'm using 40K parts and thinking of using some spare Carnefex head and carprice armour. Also thinking of using either the claws or the weapons.

Now the question is, how would you add effects or change it so it doesnt look too much like a small 40K Tyranid and more like a huge epic tyranid?

I used alot of 40K parts for my Nid HiveShip. I slapped a few epic parts on the front for that extra fine detail.
One methord u could try is to texture the whole model.
This can be done by using exessive applications of drybrushing. Simply base coat it black, n then lightly drybrush white all over, then again, and again....etc. Dont just apply it to the edges, make sure u do all the flat plate areas too.
It will give a very fine "vainy" effect, which is gud for bio-weapons.
After uv done anuf applications simply  paint the whole thing in thinned down black. Then paint as u would normaly. When u come to add the highlightz u will be able to pick out all the new texture.
