This is one of two models I'm doing for an old friend of mine.
This is the master, so it has very little in the way of detail at the moment. I will mold a couple add some detail to those copies, then in turn make copies of the detailed pieces. This model will also come with a rocket battery option(in place of the turret.)scorpion

have fun.

Gulp - seeing it side by side with the Rhino gives scale to the model - and the work that's gone into it! Nice work, Seekermeng. :D :D :D

Great work ?!

Looks very clean and well defined :).

I wish they would sell some of those plastic sheets where I live, I would really like to try working with that some day, it seems to be very versatile and extremely useful for vehicle building !

[I could of course order online, but I would rather have a look at it firsthand before I buy anything.
On a side note: Since I travel there about once a year: Does anyone know a shop in (Greater) London [or possibly somewhere less than a few hours' train ride from there] where I could buy such plastic sheets?]

By the way, is this the kind that can be glued with plastic cement ?

Cheers,

Drasannar

yeah Drasannar, this works with most types of plastic cements. I have found that if you work with some of the "hotter" type glues you should avoid the thin sheets.  I use .01 and .03 for 6mm models.  I mainly use gel super glues with accelarators.  I use evergreen plastic products for the most part.  I have used Plastruct in the past but didn't like it as well.

Yeah, I'm sure there are lots of places in London you can buy plasticard from Drasannar- just try putting something like 'London Model shop' into Google and you are sure to find a few model shops, then email them to see what they stock.

I'm sure someone here would always mail you a couple of sheets if it came down to it, for the chance of seeing some more of your work :D . I'm not in London but I think there's a couple of places here that do do some, just ask and I'm sure you'll find somebody that'll help.

Beaties used to sell it, and generally the smaller hobby shops have it.

Any particular reason? Is Plastruct by any chance the type that *cannot* be glued using polystyrene cement?
(don't ask me were I picked this up, but I am quite certain that there is some fairly well-known type of plastic sheet were this applies...probably there is some reason for that, too, but I can't imagine what that could be :oo ...unless perhaps it is ?somehow related to some other material properties, such as heat resistance etc. ? )

Yes, I'm sure there are enough people here willing to do that, and that's a reason why I like this place :).

But, you see, my problem is not actually the ordering part. It would have been just a few months ago, before I finally decided to get a credit card.
No, my problem is that I don't want to buy plasticard - and even less so the other plastic stuff, like rods, T-bars etc - without seeing (that is preferably to the point of touching!) it firsthand, because there are things you can't really judge from an web image - and I'm not even accusing anyone of picture manipulation or somesuch , it's just that details like the sharpness of edges, surface texture etc. doesn't always show too well on photos, compared to a good look from a few cm with MK.I eyeballs :L.
And I certainly don't want to cause anyone the hassle of buying samples, sending them to me, me deciding I don't like half of them, mailing them back, and him having to return them to the shop, assuming that would even be possible...

No, definitely not if I can try to get them myself. I just need to know where, since you do not generally find modelling or crafts stores on Oxford Street or Piccadilly (well, in fact Ork's Nest - a scifi/fantasy store where they used to sell Milliput - is on New Oxford Street, but they didn't have plasticard the last few times I checked )

Can you give me any more details, since I have never heard of a shop/chain called "Beaties" ?

I tried googling for it, entering "beaties London":
I got results including a dog kennel, baby stores, clothes stores, the suggestion by Google to change it to "Beauties", and the predictable number of websites with typos that were supposed to read just that way...

But nothing related to modelling/crafts/hobby supplies(at least on the first few pages, before I decided just asking might be a better idea...). [When I tried narrowing the search with some ANDs and the above keywords, I got barely anything at all, and that was either useless or the websites didn't refer properly....]

However, I did a search for "London Model Shop" too, as Stormseer suggested, and got some results, including one that says they sell to architects, which might be a hit... have to check this out when I'm not sleepy :)

Cheers,

Drasannar

There is a dedicated model shop near Moorfields eye hospital in London. Its used by the proffesionals for architecure minis. Lots of loverly scale every thing. I try and find out the name. Obviously unable to see much at the time as we were going to a hospital for people that can't see
